With the launch of two new MPVs, a major change is expected to come in car market. These two MPVs are Toyota’s face-lifted Innova and Nissan’s Evalia. Innova is already ruling in Indian market from many years, and now its renovated version has come to make a boom. On the contrary, Nissan also comes with a MPV which undoubtedly can be the choice of those buyers who need a family based vehicle and can also be used for commercial purpose. We bring comparison between these two MPVs in terms of price, features and specifications.
Price:
Innova already had more price range in comparison to other cars in its segment, but company has again increased its price with this renovation. Now the price tag on this face-lifted Innova is 12.21 to 15.07 lakhs. On the other side, Evalia comes at much lesser price than face-lifted Innova i.e. 8.78-10.73 lakhs. This price range of face-lifted Innova can be a major drawback for its sale.
Engine details:
Both the MPVs offer only diesel variant with 5-speed manual transmission gearbox. While face-lifted Innova is equipped with 2.5 liter, 2KD diesel engine, Evalia has 1.5 l K9K diesel engine. The power churned out by face-lifted Innova is 100.6bhp@ 3600rpm and by Evalia is 85bhp@3750rpm. Also both the cars provide the equal torque output of 200Nm.
The ARAI certified mileage of Evalia is much better than this other MPV. While Evalia provides 19.33 kmpl of fuel efficiency, face-lifted Innova can just produce 12.9 kmpl.
Space:
Dimension wise, both the MPVs are almost similar with some ups and downs. The dimension of face-lifted Innova is 4585mm*1765mm*1760mm and Evalia’s is 4400mm*1700mm*1860mm. Face-lifted Innova and Evalia have the ground clearance of 176mm and 180mm respectively.
The minimum turning radius of Innova is 5.4 m over the 5.2 m turning radius of Evalia. When we already have amazing boot space of 300 liters in Innova, Evalia is one step ahead by providing the 500 liters of huge boot space. Also Evalia has the option to fold its last seats and then it gives 2100 liters of boot space, no one could demand more…right??? But not only this, its 2nd row can also be folded to provide a large cargo room, hence we must say if anyone needs a vehicle for commercial purpose than nothing can be better than this Evalia.
The face-lifted Innova has better fuel tank capacity of 55 liters than the Evalia which has capacity of 45 liters.
Interiors:
Both the cars have all the necessary as well as premium features as per the needs. Innova’s manual/automatic air conditioner (depending upon variants), clock, MID, trip meter, glove box, vanity mirror, steering wheel with leather/urethane cover, vents (for 2nd & 3rd row), power windows, central locking, audio system with speakers, electric steering with audio controls are those premium features which are well designed in this royal MPV and make its look classy.
On the contrary, Evalia also has a long list of these premium features like MID (gives information about cruising range, fuel efficiency, clock etc.), 12V socket for power supply, 60:40 folding system in 2nd row, 50:50 folding system in 3rd row, 2-din audio CD/MP3 with front and rear speakers as well as roof antenna. This lists doesn’t end here, it also has AC with heater (manual), AC in 3rd row, power steering with tilt, cup holders, bottle holders, dead paddle, front seat belts with height adjustment, rear wipers on 2nd row, rear windows (2nd row), cushion pillow set, seat belt pad etc.
Exteriors:
On looking outside, face-lifted Innova definitely beats Evalia with its attractive, trendy looks, while the Evalia looks terribly outdated in designing with its sliding rear doors and fits more for a commercial purpose. Other than this, Evalia as well as face-lifted Innova, both has required features at outside.
Evalia has body color bumpers, radiator grille, green tinted glass, wheel cover, follow me headlamps(in which we can leave the headlight on & it will automatically turn off after 30 seconds from exiting the vehicle), dual reversing lights, front fog lamps etc. On the contrary, face-lifted Innova looks refined with the presence of alloy wheels, wiper(front/rear), front fog lamps, rear defogger, outside rear-view mirrors, chromed radiator grille etc. The rear fog lamps are missing in both the MPVs.
Road handling & Safety:
While Innova can accelerates the 0-100 km in just 13 seconds with the top speed of 175 km/h, Evalia takes 17-18 seconds to achieve 0-100 km with the top speed of 170km/h.
Talking about road handling, both the MPVs have similar torque of 200Nm which provides them a balanced and comfortable drivability. It is observed that both MPV’s engine is smooth and has balanced turbo lag.
ABS with EBD system, immobilizer, keyless entry, door-ajar warning, dual front airbags are said to be the most important safety features in a vehicle, and these all are present in both MPVs.
Verdict:
If you want a vehicle which can be used for both purposes; either for family or for commercial purpose, then definitely Nissan’s Evalia is one for you with its more affordable price, much better fuel efficiency, large space availability, tons of luggage-holding capacity. On the other hand, if you want such type of vehicle which looks attractive and you are ready to spend much more money for that, then only you can choose this face-lifted Innova.
