Hyundai, a South Korean carmaker and Maruti/Maruti Suzuki, an Indian brand (in collaboration with Japanese Brand Suzuki) is the largest automobile manufacturer in South Asia. All range of styles are available starting from hatchback, sedan to SUVs in both the brands and both brands are on head to head in competition. While Maruti 800, Alto, Ritz, Swift, Zen, Wagon R, A-Star are under the hatchback category and SX4, Swift Dzire and Kizashi belong to the sedan category and the Grand Vitara and Gypsy hold the SUV tag and lastly Omni holds VAN tag.
The first product of the Maruti Udyog Ltd was Maruti 800 which earned huge success and continues to earn more because of the cheap price tag and solid features. The various cars under the Hyundai are the Eon, i10, i20, Fluidic Verna, new Fluidic Elantra, all new Sonata, Santa Fe. While Eon, i10, i20, Santro fall under the hatchback category; Accent, Fluidic Verna, new Fluidic Elantra and Sonata belong to sedan class and yet another category SUV has Santa Fe car under its tag.
Maruti Swift vs Hyundai i10
Swift is the most popular hatchback model in india. It has certainly impressed people with its style and performance but on the counterpart there is almost equal likeliness for Hyundai’s i10. The new i10 car comes with the ‘blue drive’ technology that promises performance and fuel efficiency. Both the cars come in petrol and diesel version. The mileage offered by petrol version Swift is 18.6kpl and 22.9kpl for the diesel version which is higher than the hyundai’s i10 diesel version mileage which is 20.36kpl. i10 doesn’t have a diesel engine however it uses LPG as fuel in its i10 Magna 1.1 trim. For most of us mileage is the deciding factor for buying a car, isn’t it?
Maruti Suzuki Swift has got 1.2l K series petrol engine which gives 85.8 bhp and torque of 114Nm while the diesel engine has 1.3l DDiS engine which gives 3.9 bhp and torque of 190 Nm. On the other side i10 is equipped with either 16V DOHC Kappa2 engine or the 4 cylinder 12V SOHC iRDE2.The former gives power of 69/5500 ps@rpm and torque 10.1/4500 Nm@rpm, for the latter the figures are 80/6600 ps@rpm and 11.4/4400 Nm@rpm.

While i10 possess front fog lamps, dual airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensor, central locking, impact sensing door unlocking, keyless entry with burglar alarm and seat belt pretensioner and the safety features in Maruti Swift are Abs with EBD, dual airbags ,low fuel warning lamp and engine immobiliser.
Let’s see what the users have to say about these 2 cars for better comparison, a user who bought new ZDi version of Maruti swift got a mileage of 22.2 kpl after driving few hundred kms. He liked the style, fuel economy and comfort but complains about the lack of inbuit handsfree Bluetooth.
