In India, when we hear the word ‘Jeep’, a well known image of a vehicle having a military look and a tyre at its rear door which was manufactured by Mahindra Company comes into our mind automatically. But that model has been a history now and a well new designed Jeep is going to hit the Indian market soon. This brand new model is manufactured by Fiat-Chrysler Alliance and it will change the definition as well as image of a Jeep completely. The company announced the name of this new model i.e. Jeep Grand Cherokee.
It was expected to be launched in early 2014 but now this project has been put on hold by the company for unknown time period due to the dull market.
Price:
Its price range is very high where a common man could not reach easily; hence we can say that it’s coming for the rich people like businessmen etc. It is expected to come with the cost of 60 lakhs approx (price of top most variant).
Engine details:
It has five variants which offer a four-wheel-drive system as an option. A 3.0 liter, 2987cc, V6 turbo-diesel and 3.6 liter petrol engines are expected to be equip in Grand Cherokee mated with the stunning 8-speed automatic transmission. While its diesel version churns out the max power of 237bhp@ 3600rpm and an excellent peak torque of 569.4 Nm, its petrol variant offers 281bhp of max power and 347 Nm of peak torque.
Space:
It is a big vehicle having dimension of 4820mm*1943mm*1792mm and also offers the large wheelbase of 2915mm. Though it has the seating capacity for only five passengers but still it is being said to have a roomy interior especially at back seats. It has no third row but have a huge 1544 liters of boot space where an almost full sized spare wheel can be placed easily.
Interior and Exterior:
Talking about its outside look, the first noticeable thing is its bright headlamps along with the attractive day time running LED lamps which offer this Jeep a sporty as well as an aggressive look. It also has seven vertical shaped grilles, wide shoulders which is quite complimenting its sporty glance.
At inside the cabin, a dashboard including an 8.9 inch touch screen, centre console and the steering wheel having a bunch of controlling buttons, cruise control, AC vents, instrument cluster screen, scenic sunroof, audio controls,SD card,Bluetooth,USB & aux-in, parking sensors, keyless entry,electronic tailgate, two USB slots for the rear passengers and many more increase the glimpse of this vehicle, some of these premium features are only available in Grand Cherokee’s top end summit variant though.
Road handling:
It gives a calming and stimulating experience on driving and also provides a stable speed with a balanced ride and without vibration. It accelerates 0-100km/h in just 9.2 seconds with a top speed of 200km/h (approx). Its claimed mileage is 17 km/h in city and 25 km/h on highways.

Grand Cherokee creates an excitement among the people, its aggressive and sporty look, availability of long lasting features and a tag of Jeep make it different from others. It will build a new reputation of Jeep and has tendency to make a blast in Indian market, though its price range is too high which can deprive the common people from enjoying it.
