After the successful run of the Maruti Suzuki A-Star facelift in the European market, the car is expected to hit the Indian market in December or early in the next year. It seems Maruti Suzuki has decided to facelift most of its popular vehicles this year thus emphasizing less on new line of products. It could be seen as a clever cost cutting method taking in the current market scenario. The all new Wagon R Stingray was launched this month in midst of much fanfare which Maruti Suzuki always does as an important part of their marketing strategy.
Performance
The A-Star facelift will be powered by the proven K series engine having a displacement of 998cc with 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine producing 67.7bhp@6200rpm and 90Nm@3500rpm of torque. The Stingray comes with a similar engine displacement of 998cc producing a peak power of 67.7bhp @ 6200 rpm and max torque of 90 Nm @ 3500 rpm. Both the cars have very similar engine specs and the performance of both the cars is decent for their price tag. The A-star had a 4 Gear manual transmission and the A-star facelift is expected to have an upgrade of 5-Shift manual transmission. The car is expected to have a mileage of 19.1 kmpl which is lower than the Hyundai Eon placed under the same category as the A-star facelift.

Exteriors
The major overhaul in the facelift version of the A-star is expected to be the exterior design of the vehicle as observed in Chinese market, the vehicle is set to get sportier and elongated. The car sports an all-new chrome grille with well-designed bumpers and headlights. The facelift A-star looks more muscular and matured. The rear end of the vehicle has new set of tail lights with a LED design. Stingray looks very identical to Wagon R in exterior design with few modifications. The Stingray gets new slim headlamps and a much slimmer grille when compared to the Wagon R. The bumpers at the front and the fog lamp housings have bold designs. The alloy-wheels give the car a stylish look.
Interiors
The interior design of the Stingray reminds of the existing version of Wagon R. It incorporates a stylish dashboard which has the A.C controls and the music system. The interior have got silver layouts at the Steering wheel and the plastic feels decent. The door trims are elegantly designed and have got dual toned look which combines matte black and a gloss rich finish. The Steering wheels have got music controls which are handy and stylish. The A-star Facelift interiors are anticipated with improved interiors and enhanced dashboard aesthetics. There is not much information on the Indian variant of the A-star facelift. We will have to wait and see what surprises Maruti Suzuki brings in with its all new A-star Facelift.
Price
The Expected price of the Maruti Suzuki A-star Facelift is around 3.85L* while the Stingray has already been launched with a base price tag of 4.75L*.
Final Verdict:
Maruti Suzuki falls under the latest hatchback car segments and doesn’t face much competition from the same car maker’s A-star facelift. The A-star facelift comes under compact car segment and faces a huge competition by cars like Hyundai Eon and Chevy Spark which are priced less than the A-star Facelift.
