Cost:

The entry level i10 Grand is priced at Rs. 4.25 lacs and for highest variant it is around Rs. 6.29 lacs whereas incase of Amaze it starts at Rs. 4.99 lacs and goes upto Rs. 7.55 lacs. The entry level i10 Grand is cheaper than entry level Amaze.

Mileage:

The top mileage given by the diesel version i10 Grand is 24 kpl while for the petrol version it is 18.9 kpl according to the ARAI ratings. But Amaze is there to amaze us with its top mileage of 25.8 kpl in its diesel car. The petrol fuelled Amaze gives 18 kpl mileage. So in case of diesel as fuel, Amaze is a clear winner and in this case of petrol, i10 Grand leads by marginal figure.

Engine Performance with Max power and Max torque figures:

i10 Grand boasts about its 2nd gen CRDi 1.1 L U2 diesel engine offering max power and max torque figures of 70.7 Ps @4000 rpm and 159.84 Nm @1500-2500 rpm respectively, whereas the diesel version of Honda Amaze has 1.5 L DOHC iDTEC Earth dreams engine offering 100 Ps @3600 rpm and 200 Nm@1750 rpm respectively. The petrol version of i10 Grand is equipped with 1.2 L Kappa dual VTVT engine offering max power and max Torque figures of 82.94 Ps@6000 rpm and 113.75 Nm @4000 rpm respectively, whereas in petrol fuelled Amaze with its 1.2 L iVTEC engine the figures are 88Ps @6000rpm and 109Nm @4500 rpm. Honda is famous for its engine performance and so it does proves over here!!

Transmission, Acceleration and max speed:

i10 grand offers 5 speed manual transmission in both its petrol and diesel engines while Amaze provides 5 forward and 1 reverse manual transmission it both petrol and diesel versions. Amaze has an advantage of 5 speed automatic transmission in its petrol version. The fuel tank capacity in Amaze is 35 l is less by 8L than i10 grand. The top speed achievable in i10 grand for diesel version is 157 kmhr and time taken to accelerate from 0-100 kmph is 15.6 secs and while in Amaze is slightly quicker, it take around 13 sec to reach the same mark and provides top speed of around 141 kmph.

Boot Capacity:

Boot capacity of 400L in Amaze leads i10 Grand (256 L) by 144L for obvious reasons that Amaze is a sedan class car.

Special Features:

Rear A/c vents, rear assist parking with audio buzzer, remote fuel lid opener, remote tail gate opener, dual colour urban textured upholstery and dual colour (beige and black) dashboard, map pockets etc. Well Amaze boasts about its ECO lamp absent in i10 Grand, chrome rings on airvents and dual tone beige upholstery in its highest variant. Both the cars have a Power steering with tilt steering option, power adjustable ORVMs, glovebox and audio controls mounted on steering in both the cars. But Amaze seems to be missing out the Bluetooth sync option as in i10 Grand whose controls are also mounted on the steering. Safety features are almost the same with dual airbags, engine immobiliser anti theft system, ABS with EBD and central locking are present in both the car but Amaze has an advantage of Wave key and High mount stop lamp.

Entertainment section:

both have 2 – DIN integrated audio system with mp3/radio player and radio with USB and Aux-in ports.

Looks:

i10 Grand has rear spoiler, roof railings, side moldings which are absent in Amaze. But Amaze is larger in length and has various body lines on the sides making it more attractive and aerodynamic than i10 Grand.

Verdict:

Amaze leads in mileage, and engine performance, boot space and has advantage of being a sedan but misses out special feature like rear a/c vents, Bluetooth, rear parking assist with audio buzzer like in i10 Grand. So technically, i10 Grand is more advanced but when it comes to cost, mileage and engine’s performance Amaze emerges out the winner!!
