During this festive season, Toyota is all set to launch another SUV in Indian market named Toyota Rush. The SUV with refined designs and interiors, with impressive performance and most remarkable point is it has a badge of a very reputed brand; this all will surely lay a new milestone in market and give a tough competition to other SUVs in its segment like Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster etc. Toyota’s one more SUV Innova is already in Indian market from many years and ruling among the car lovers.

As currently there are already few successful SUVs in car market, and Nissan Terrano is one of them, so buyers would definitely want to know how this Rush is different from Terrano. Here we bring a comparison between these two royal SUVs in terms of different categories.

Engine Variants:

Lets start with availability of engine variants, while Terrano is available in both the petrol as well diesel versions, the yet to be launched Rush will come only in petrol version with three different trims.

Terrano has three variants in its engine availability i.e. Terrano petrol, Terrano XV diesel, Terrano XV premium diesel. On the contrary, Rush has three petrol variants i.e. Rush 1.5G MT, Rush 1.5G AT and Rush 1.5S AT.

Price:

The cost of Terrano is 8.5 lakhs to 11.5 lakhs (depends upon the variants), while the tentative price of Rush is said to be 8.6-9.5 lakhs. Though Rush’s price is just tentative this time, but still if we compare on the behalf of this price range, then definitely it takes away the cake here with lesser price than Terrano.

Brand value:

To give the explanation for Toyota brand seems pointless as it has reached on such position where we can say that the name explains everything. On the other hand, though Nissan is new in India in comparison to Toyota, still has managed its individual place in market, but no doubt people trust Toyota more than the Nissan. But it’s also a truth that today’s buyers see the particular car and its available features first and then its brand later.

Engine details:

While Terrano is well equipped with 1.6 liter MPFI (multi point fuel injection) petrol and 1.5 liter K9K dCi diesel engine, the Rush is said to be has 1495cc, In-line 4-cylinder DOHC engine designed by using VVT-I technology. The Terrano offers the displacement of 1598cc in petrol version and 1461cc in diesel.

In petrol version, while Rush offers the max power of 108bhp@ 6000rpm and peak torque of 141Nm@ 4400rpm, Terrano provides the max power and torque of 100.6bhp@ 5850rpm and 145Nm@3750rpm respectively. On the contrary, the max power provided by Terrano in diesel version is 108bhp@ 3900rpm and peak torque is 248Nm@ 2250rpm. Talking about mileage, the ARAI certified mileage is 14kmpl in Terrano’s petrol versionand expected to be 14.8kmpl in Rush. While theTerrano’s diesel version hasthe ARAI certified mileage of 19kmpl, but on driving under definitive condition, it offers 15kmpl on highways and 12kmpl on city roads.

Both the SUVs offers the equal minimum turning radius of 5.2 m and fuel tank capacity of 50 liters (petrol version), while the Terrano’s diesel version has 50 liters of fuel tank capacity. Also these both royal SUVs are embellished with 215/65 tyres on 16 inches alloy wheels which delivers a great balance to the car. Also Terrano has Wanderer Sport Tyres with diamond cut alloys.

Space:

Dimension wise, it seems that Rush is smaller than the Terrano but its height is comparatively more than the other one. While the dimension of Terrano is4315mm*1822mm*1695mm along with the ground clearance of 210mm, the Rush is 4005mm in length, 1695 in width and 1705 in height, but it has the ground clearance of 200mm which could be a little bit better as the Terrano, though this difference is not big enough.

Like its elder sister Innova, Rush also has the impressive seating capacity of seven passengers, while the Terrano has just a five-seater SUV, though this less seating capacity of Terrano somehow criticizes this SUV badge given to it.

Interiors:

At inside, both the SUVs are designed with the regular needs of equipments like AC ventselectric power steering with tilt function, also audio controls on this electric steering wheelcentral lockingpower windows with driver side Auto-down, audio system along with the speakers etc.

In Terrano’s interior, to add to the comfort of the passengers, this car has many modified features including metal finished trendy gear knobadvanced HVAC (heating, ventilation & air conditioning), adjustable reading lampsair quality control systemvanity mirrorarmrests, trunk lightUSB portAUX-in, Bluetooth connectivity. Also it has the booth space of 475 liters which can be extended by folding its rear seats.

On the contrary, we’ll have to wait to get the list of available premium features in Rush till its launch.

Exteriors:

Rush has an improved exterior look in comparison to its elder sister Innova. As people found the Innova a little bit large on the city roads, so the company has reduced the size of Rush in aspects of its length as well as width which makes this SUV smaller than Terrano too. As expecting, it is equipped with many trendy features like multi-reflector headlampsprojector headlampswing mirrorreverse sensor etc. The fog lamps and turn indicators (which protects from collision at the time of turning) are only embellished in its 1.5S AT version.

Coming to Terrano, it looks muscular as well as modern in comparison to the other SUVs. This SUV has all the required features at outside including brand-new hoodtail gatefront/rear bumperstrendy automatic headlightswindscreen at front with laminationrear de-foggierautomatic wipersbody color adjustable external wing mirrors.

Road handling & safety:

According to the updates till now, Rush is equipped with a strong braking systems which will provide a safe as well as regulated ride to the passengers. Disc brakes at front and drum brakes at rear are present in all of its three versions. On the other hand, Terrano is equipped with large ventilated disc brakes at front and leading trailing drum brakes at rear which assists in balanced ride.

Both the SUVs are equipped with various safety features like ABS with EBD, airbagsdoor-ajar warning (which warns if door is not closed properly), keyless entry, immobilizer (an electronic anti-theft device) etc.

While the top speed of Terrano is 172kmph and it can achieve 0-100km in just 12 seconds, the Rush has top speed of 170kmph and it can reach 0-100km in just 11.5 seconds (as expecting).
