On 3rd November Maruti has launched the refreshed version of Alto K10 which is receiving an update after four years. It’s now the cheapest price Automatic car over taking the legacy of Celerio. Few months’ back Maruti Suzuki has gifted one small hatchback model to its lovers who want to own their own car, that hatchback was trendy Celerio which had increased the excitement of people in India and also company’s claiming that it received lot of bookings in few days but its alternative is here now in the form of New Alto K10 with aggressive price range than Celerio. Well, now question is, when there are already many cars in same segment, not only by other brands but by Maruti as well, then what was the need of this updated hatchback? We tried to find out by comparing this new model with others in our previous section of comparison and now we are here with the detailed comparison of New Alto K10 with Maruti’s other hatchback Celerio.

Price:

It’s one of the few those cars which are giving a really tough fight to the newly launched Alto K10 in terms of price. While other hatchbacks are somehow slightly costlier than Alto k10, this new Alto K10 is cheaper. The new Alto K10 costs at just 3.06-3.81 lakhs while the Celerio carries the price range of 3.76-4.79 lakhs.

Engine details:

There are no differences in the engine and developed power of both the hatchbacks. Both the cars have only petrol fuel which is a 998cc, 1.0 liter K-series petrol engine which is good to churn out max power of 67.1bhp and peak torque of 90Nm. Though both the cars have one CNG variant as well developing Power i.e. 58.2BHP @6000rpm and 78Nm torque@3500rpm.

The all-new Alto K10 now gets an all-new concept of Automated Manual transmission (AMT) which is responsible to support in better handling and drivability on road. Along with this, 5-speed manual gearbox is also making its presence in new Alto K10. Contrary, the Celerio is also mated to Automatic and manual gearbox transmission.

Though, Celerio gives a near fight to new K10 in terms of its fuel efficiency but still new Alto K10 proves to be better in this segment. The Maruti new alto K10 offers 24.07 km/l of mileage figures over the 23.1 km/l of Celerio’s, new Alto K10 also beating Celerio in CNG mileage figures of 32.36 km/kg over Celerio’s 31.79 km/kg. 

All mileage figures mentioned above are ARAI Certified.

Performance:

The new Alto K10 provides decent road handling and the equipped brakes and suspension in this car helps it to drive even under testing condition. Overall, New Alto K10 satisfies its users and same applies to Celerio. The users who have test drive the Maruti’s new refreshed Alto K10 seems completely thrilled by its riding. But it is also because of the availability of automatic transmission and new improved technology in this refreshed hatchback which definitely provides a far better driving experience than any other same segment model.

Space & Dimension:

Coming to its measurements and space, the new Alto K10 which has been changed dimensionally this time, the length has been reduced by 75mm, width and height increased by 15mm which changes the overall dimension figures of K10 to 3545mm length, 1490mm wide and 1475mm height.

Celerio carries the overall dimension of 3600mm x 1600mm x 1560mm .These dimension figures makes the Celerio lengthier, wider and higher than new Alto K10. Also, Celerio has longer wheelbase of 2425mm over the 2360mm of new Alto K10. The clear height of Maruti’s Alto K10 is 160mm while Celerio’s is 165mm. dimensionally; Celerio is surely a better car than new Alto K10. 

Exterior, Interior & Safety:

Though, New Alto K10 is not much wider and taller as Celerio but after up gradation it manages to stand shoulder to shoulder with other hatchback in glimpse wise. The new version of Alto k10 is trendier, modern, refreshed moreover looks like a brother of Celerio. But, Celerio is more spacious than Alto K10.

It will be appropriate now to say that new Alto K10 now looks the car of New Gen like Celerio.

After the updation Alto K10 interior looks much improved than its ongoing model and now giving a tuff fight to Celerio in this section. New Alto K10 is now feature rich car with 2 DIN audio system with Bluetooth, USB and AUX-IN connectivity surrounded by piano black finish color scheme, premium seats, three spoke steering wheel etc. New Alto K10’s cabin ambience has improved significantly with these features.

On the other hand, Celerio is also rich on the basis of its interior as well as exterior features. Somehow, Celerio’s outer appearance still looks more soothing than new K10 despite of receiving an update. But rear side of K10 is better than Celerio with rear combination lamps.

Safety wise, Celerio scores more coz of the availability of necessary features like anti lock braking system (ABS) and Immobilizer which are missing in new Alto K10. But these features are only present as optional safety devices in Maruti’s hatchback Celerio.  Though features like Keyless entry, child proof rear door locks, front power windows, central locking, high mounted stop lamps, rear centre seat belt and front disc brakes are some of the features which exist in both the cars.
