Maruti Suzuki is busy face-lifting its popular car A-Star and which shall be ready to launch by the first quarter of 2014. The price range shall be Rs. 3.85 lacs to Rs. 4.75 lacs. The reason for facelift being that the sales of A-star are decreasing sharply and second reason being that the A-starbuilt in India is also exported to Europe and thus needs to match their standards. So Suzuki has planned to introduce set of new features like automatic transmission, new bumper and improved headlamps. The rear also has a fresh look with rear lamps blessed with LED lights.

    User's Asked Question

Under the Hood: The car will be driven by 1.0 l 3 cylpetrol engine churning max power of 67.7 bhp @ 6200 rpm and offering max torque of 90 Nm @ 3500 rpm.  The gearbox is expected to be upgraded from the 4-speed automatic transmission to the 5-speed automatic transmission. If Rumours are to be believed then the car will be launched with the diesel version as well. Well some exaggerated news tells that the mileage of the car shall be 33 kpl but i guess it won’t be greater than 26 kpl.

Exteriors: This face-lifted A-star is expected to be lighter in weight than its outgoing model. The bonnet looks the same; the headlamps are fairly large and have a small grill running from one’s end to the other’s end. Also there’s a thin strip of chrome running in the middle holding the brand logo proudly. Below that is another grill which is quite large in shape of a compressed ‘U’. Thereare stylish fog lamps on either side sitting inside the cubicle. The ORVMs and door handles are body coloured. But the ORVMs might not have turn indicators on them. There are smooth character lines all over the body. The wheels are expected to be alloy built and seem to have flower shaped 12 spokes on it.

Since Maruti being an Indian make is probably the most trusted brand especially for middle class because of their evergreen Maruti 800, Alto/A-star, SX4 etc. With the news of Maruti Suzuki face-lifting the car, the aspirations and expectations of the Maruti lovers have risen. They want better boot space in the car, some want a glovebox to be included and yet others want it to be blessed with ABS security feature.

Interiors: the interiors are expected to remain the same except that the gearbox shall be in front console like in the Hyundai i10 and is roomier than the previous one. Air conditioner, steering wheel shall remain the same. In the front there are 2 bottle holders now!

Well this is what the future Maruti Suzuki A-Star shall look like. With the facelift Maruti hopes to set its sales chart right and bring a smile on the faces of middle class because of affordable price tag. There’s still lot of time before the launch, it seems Maruti people are taking their time in testing and production and shall announce the good news only in the later months of the yr.
