Toyota is bringing an exciting renovated model especially for the young ones of India in the form of Corolla 2014; this mid-sized sedan is ready with all new exteriors as well as interiors, it will carry the same engine units of its predecessor though. The ongoing corolla has experienced the taste of being one of the top most cars (in its segment) but it seems to be end now, as there are many other same-segment models now in the market which are performing better including Hyundai Elantra Fluidic etc.
It is expected to be unveiled in Feb 2014 at Indian Auto Expo while the sale will be commenced in the festive season of 2014 (as reported).
The cost of this trendy car is still an unrevealed part but we expect it to come with approximately same price like its ongoing version. The price range of existing Corolla Altis is 11.7-15.8 lakhs
All new and modified interior & exterior:
This next-gen sedan gains a very trendy glimpse with lots of modified as well as additional features and looks more appealing than its predecessor. It has made longer and wider than the ongoing Corolla Altis but the height has been reduced. Also the wheelbase has been increased by 75mm.
It gets redefined LED headlights, tail lamps, altered alloy wheels, fully upgraded dashboard, modified upholstery and instrument cluster, Bluetooth hands free calling, push button start and many more luxury features. Inside the cabin, the dual tone color combination along with piano-black gloss trim and metallic ornamentation is complimenting its new style. This new sedan has been more spacious than before and now provides more legroom at front as well as rear.
Comfort wise, company has improved this car a lot by using NVH lowering measures like acoustic glass windscreen, refined floor carpet insulation, a sound insulator etc. It also has all the safety features including eight airbags, three point seat belts, ABS, EBD, brake assist (BA), traction control system (TCS), vehicle stability control (VSC) etc.
Engine:
The engine units are same as its earlier version but have been updated. While the petrol variant will have same 138bhp, 1.8 liter VVT-I engine, the diesel variant will be powered with 1.4 liter D-4D turbo by offering 87bhp of max power. The diesel engine is mated with 6-speed manual transmission gearbox but the petrol variant comes with choice between 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic CVTi-S.
These both engine have been updated for better achievement and drivability on road, and also we expect that company would work on its diesel engine to improve its performance. It is rumored that a new electric power steering is being equipped in this new sedan to save fuel up to 3-5%.
Car Zoom’s take:
The ongoing Corolla received a warm welcome by the car lovers; especially its petrol model but also users had issues with the performance of its diesel variant. Now company has a chance to rule on young hearts by providing a luxuriant, sporty sedan with better performance on road. As the Indian youth is admiring the powerful and dynamic sedans now-a-days, it would be interesting to see what changes (for company as well as for users) would come by this new launch.
