Chevy showed off the facelifted Beat at the 2012 Paris Auto Show, oops! didn’t you guys attend that! Never mind, you can read below the specifications and the features of the car that it is expected to have. This renewed hatchback is bound to be launched in this October i.e. 2013 and its price will range from Rs. 4 lacs to Rs. 6 lacs. A thing to note: Chevrolet Beat in India is sold as Spark internationally.
Under the Hood: The car will have 4 cyl 16 valves DOHC engine offering a displacement of 1199 cc. The max power and max torque figures will be 79.3 bhp and 108 Nm respectively. The engine is complaint of Euro-IV and will have 5-speed manual transmission. Though, its American counterparts will have 4-speed automatic transmission. Coming to the most important aspect of a hatchback i.e. Mileage – it is estimated to be 18.6 kmpl for the petrol version.
Exteriors: The car will feature a whole new front fascia with the new bonnet, bumper and grill. The car has elongated stylish eye-shaped headlamps on either side surrounding a small line-shaped grill at the end of the bonnet. Right below it lays the Brand logo of Chevrolet i.e. a stylish ‘+’ sign symbol. And below that lies another grill with chrome lining on inside holding the plate with ‘Beat’ written on it. And not to forget the new air intake grill with fog lamps embedded on its either end. The fog lamps are too surrounded by the chrome bits. The car has bold bends, curves and character lines all over the body especially on the front bonnet and the side profile of the car. Another striking feature about this hatchback are the roof railings!! The door handles are body coloured and same goes for the ORVMs. But it seems that they aren’t equipped with turn indicators on them. However you can see small lamps below the ORVMs serving the purpose. The 15 inch tall wheels are also much attractive with its alloy build and star-shaped spokes on it. At the rear too you can see some changes in the form of modified bumper and revised taillamps.
Let’s jump inside! The interiors are almost same as in previous Beat but it definitely feature the new central console. Same upholstery and same safety features! A bad news for the entertainment lovers is that The Beat which will be launched in India won’t have the MyLink touch Radio system. But never mind there is still an optional radio system for you and USB port to plug in your fully loaded USB to listen to your favourite tracks.
Market Expectations: Chevy has lots of hopes for this improved hatchback in India where small cars with affordable price tag and great mileage figures are preferred over sedan and other class cars. But let’s see how well will ‘Beat’ able to beat its peers and rise on the sales chart.
