Maruti Suzuki has taken the market by storm with Vitara Brezza as the impressive initial booking numbers suggest this compact SUV will be a mega hit. Maruti has managed to undercut its rivals in pricing by decent margin making it a more logical buy. Another SUV that is creating and setting benchmarks is Hyundai Creta selling over 60k units and grabbing over 1 lakh bookings. However comparing Creta and Brezza is unfair as former is segment higher but it is need of the hour as this is what consumers want.
Price
Keeping things at hold, let’s start with pricing first as it can be one of the core deciding factor. As said, Creta is segment up so it is priced accordingly, its entry level variants start where Brezza’s top end. This might a wakening alarm for Creta as rival being the potent product carrying the affordable price tag would make Brezza the more preferred choice over Creta.
Engine Details
The compact SUB Vitara Brezza borrows engine from Ciaz which means it gets the tried and tested 1.3l DDis diesel mill that delivers 88bhp power and 200Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, Creta bags a punch with range of engines first is 1.6l Dual VTVT petrol that churns out 123bhp power and 154Nm of torque, second is U2 CRDi diesel mill which is capable of 90bhp of max output and 224Nm of torque.
The powerful of the lot is 1.6l U2 CRDi diesel engine that makes max output of 128bhp and 265Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. On the mileage front, Vitara Brezza is more fuel friendly with 24.3 Kmpl as compared to 21.3 Kmpl of Creta, the reason is quite obvious that Brezza has smaller engine.
Space and Dimensions
The Creta is wider, longer and roomier than Vitara Brezza as it is not a subcompact SUV like Vitara Brezza which measure the sub 4m standards.

The dual tone color scheme is probably the most eye ball grabbing exterior feature of Vitara Brezza and help it creating identity of its own.
On the Contrary, Creta’s Design is probably its strongest point which played an anchor role to let it won Indian car of the year Award. Based on 2.0 fluidic design philosophy; it looks like a toned down version of Santa Fe. The front end is fitted with sweptback headlamps with LED DRLs, hexagonal grille, wide blackened air dam with angular fog lamps flaunting the muscular image of the SUV.

It is equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system with USB, Aux-in and reverse parking display, a 2 DIN audio system with 1GB internal storage, separate screen for automatic climate control, keyless entry, rear ac vents, start/stop button and much more.
Whereas taking inspiration from Baleno hatchback, Vitara Brezza can give tough fight to Creta with features such as Smartplay infotainment system with first in segment Apple car play, navigation, USB and Aux-in, reverse parking camera, start/stop button, chilled glove box etc.
Safety
In Hyundai Creta, safety provision is taken care by six airbags, electronic brake force distribution (EBD), vehicle stability management (VSM), hill start assist control, anti-pinch window function, antilock braking system (ABS), electronic stability program, engine immobilizer, speed sensing auto door lock, hill start control, height adjustable front passenger seatbelts, lane change indicator with flash adjustment to name a few.
In Vitara Brezza, safety technologies are dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, front seat belt pre-tensioners, rear parking sensors with display assistance, anti-theft security alarm and revere parking camera. This section clearly belongs to Hyundai Creta.
Verdict
Maruti has worked its heart out for the development of Vitara Brezza and clearly shows as well. With Brezza priced below Creta tilting things favor of it and its wide service network would make things even strong for the compact SUV. These things hasn’t affected Creta yet the it has better performance and feature list the Brezza but who knows things might turn in favor of India’s largest carmaker because it’s hard to suppress its popularity. Both the SUVs are strong in their vary segments but when it comes to battling out against each other Brezza has a slight upper hand as it is terrific in almost every department and offers better value for money.
