Not for prudes!! Honda City- the favourite car of the town will now be available in diesel version seeing the rising demand of diesel cars in India!! That is indeed great news for those who love the sexy look this sedan has and also the powerful engine it is known for! The car is ready to be out on Indian soil on Jan 7th, 2014 with a price range b/w Rs. 7.2-10.6 lakhs. Let me give you a sneak-peak of this upcoming car:
Specifications: Considering the Honda City V model of this upcoming sedan, the engine will ofcourse be diesel 1.5 l i-DTEC offering max power of 99 bhp and max torque of 200 Nm. The dimensions of the car will be 4440 mm x 1695 mm x 1495mm. The seating capacity of the car is 5. The ground clearance factor will be 165 mm and the boot space will be 510l. The fuel tank capacity will also remain same as in case of its petrol variant i.e. 42 l. The car is expected to give mileage of 18 kpl in petrol and 26 kpl in diesel variant (ARAI Certified). And about the transmission, the car has 6-speed manual as well as automatic gearbox as an option.
Exteriors: The car has extremely beautiful silhouette from the front bonnet to the rear bumper with a nicely and smoothly carved out roof. The roof might have a sunroof (only the higher variants) to enjoy the sun or the moon, things like this are essentially useful on romantic dates!! The front has a smart bonnet with fine character lines on it. At the end of the bonnet begins the chrome grill having 3 chrome bars and holding the brand logo proudly right at the centre. There are elongated headlamps which protrude on the sides as well. Below the grill there is another grill for air-intake purpose. There are fog lamps on either side, but here they are much out in open rather than residing safely in a cubicle. The car is high on ‘heels’.. oh I mean ‘wheels’ which are built in alloy and have excavated stylish spokes on it.
Let me jump to the interiors now: Its gonna be the same like its petrol counterpart. It will have descent air conditioner, power steering, power windows, remote fuel filler, remote boot and remote central locking system. There also a rear defogger to your advantage. There are likely to be very many storage options here and there in the form of cup holders or seat pockets etc. In the entertainment section you will find an mp3 player with CD changer, USB port, Bluetooth etc.
Safety section includes 2 SRS airbags, Electronic Brake force Distribution with Antilock Brake System technology, active headrests, front fenders to absorb shocks and ofcourse the seat belts both at front and rear.
Japanese carmaker Honda wants to double its sales in another 3-4 yrs and that is why it is leaving no stone unturned in its ways. Thus we will soon see Diesel cars from Honda coming alive: Honda City diesel, Honda CR-V diesel and Honda Amaze diesel.
We wish Honda Good Luck!
