Volvo’s performance division Polestar is all set to make India debut on 14th April 2017 with the launch of S60 Polestar. What RS is to Audi and AMG is to Mercedes-Benz, Polestar is similar to Volvo. It has been thrilling the world for over two decades but we’re getting just an introduction of it. The Czech automaker is known for its safe cars underpinned by rich features and affordable pricing.
Powering the beauty is a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that makes 346bhp of power and 470Nm of torque. It comes linked with an eight speed automatic transmission that sends power to all wheels. The sedan is capable of accelerating 0-100km/hr in 4.7 seconds with electronic limited top speed of 250km/hr. This engine develops 60bhp and 67Nm more power and torque than the standard T6 grade.
The S60 Polestar flaunts more aggressive body lines flanked by new 20 inch Polestar exclusive alloy wheels to further improve the aesthetics. The Rebel blue color is exclusively available only for Polestar performance car. It also gets stiffer suspension, larger brakes, front splitters and rear diffuser for better stability. Changes inside the cabin includes carbon fibre trim inserts, sporty seats, nubuck leather upholstery, advanced multimedia infotainment system, and aluminium and wood inserts.
The entry level performance car is very competent when it comes to safety with features like pedestrian and cyclist detection system, adaptive cruise control, dual xenon headlights with headlight washers, blind spot information system, collision warning system with auto brake and other standard features such as airbags, ABS with EBD etc.
To be available in the top spec variant, Volvo S60 Polestar is likely to be priced in the range of Rs. 55-65 lakh (ex-showroom). The competition will come from the likes of BMW M3, Audi S5 and Mercedes-Benz AMG C43.
