Maruti Suzuki Ciaz joins the exclusive Nexa range

Maruti Suzuki’s popular sedan Ciaz is now available exclusively via brand’s 250 Nexa dealerships across India. Therefore, Ciaz becomes fifth model after Baleno, Ignis, Baleno RS and S-cross to be sold via Nexa Platform. Nexa was launched in July 2015 with the launch of S-cross and since its inception it has sold more than 2 lakh vehicles courtesy Baleno hatch. Ciaz is one of the successful models for the brand and found over 1.5 lakh happy customers since its launch.

Ciaz popularity immensely contributed by best in class cabin space, rich features, graceful design, side impact crash tests and pedestrian safety. With the move, Ciaz will now follow Nexa Nomenclature of Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha replacing the current grades of L, V, Z and Z+. With no change mechanically and cosmetically except for the new blue shade, Ciaz continue to be available in the price range of Rs. 7.72 lakh and Rs. 10.52 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Maruti was initially believed to be introducing facelift first in the early 2017 however if reports are to trusted facelift is pushed towards the year end. The new Ciaz is likely to come with several upgrades such as revised front grille, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, tweaked bumper and fog lamps. It might also get i-customization option along with Sunroof. The interior is likely to sport all black theme with updated touchscreen infotainment system Apple car Play and Android Auto and other new additions.

Maruti Ciaz continues to measure 4490mm in length, 1730mm in width, 1485mm in height and rides on the wheelbase of 2650mm. It offers best in class boot space of 530 liters and rides on 170mm of ground clearance. The competition comes from Honda City, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna and Nissan Sunny.

The mid size sedan continue to be powered by the same 1.4l K14B petrol engine the delivers 91bhp power@6000rpm and 130Nm of torque@4000rpm and 1.3l diesel engine clubbed with mild hybrid SHVS system with power output of 89bhp@4000rpm and 200Nm torque@1750rpm. Both engines come with 5-speed manual gearbox as standard while petrol is available with 4-speed automatic gearbox.  The inclusion of SHVS system has boosted fuel mileage of diesel, it offers ARAI rated mileage of 28.09 Kmpl while petrol delivers 20.73 Kmpl in manual and 19.12 Kmpl in AT.
