After the huge success of Zest, Tata is now planning yet another compact sedan which will replace indigo eCS. Tata’s new compact sedan was spied testing near company’s Pimri plant. Kite sedan will be placed below Zest so one cannot expect as much feature richness from it. Tata is also looking to build Kite hatchback, both sedan and hatchback cars will be based on old Indica platform though it have been revoked to reduce weight and NVH levels.
Apart from that Tata bolt is just around the corner which was showcased with Tata zest in the recent auto expo which will be placed above both the above mentioned cars. Tata is moving at a brisk pace when it comes to launching new vehicles; kite hatchback was spied earlier this year which will take on Maruti Celerio and Hyundai i10. Testing of Kite sedan confirms that there will be two cars on same platform.
The Design of kite Sedan looks completely different from usual Tata cars it looks like a GT variant of BMW which might be the unique point for Kite sedan. Tata kite sedan is under 4 meter which will be available in both petrol and diesel boxes.
Tata Kite will feature the 1.2L turbocharged Revotron petrol engine which we have seen in recently launched Tata Zest while for diesel it will get 1.4L CR4 turbocharged intercool diesel engine with 25 KPL mileage but there rumors that Kite sedan will get 1.05L 3 cylinder turbo diesel engine which was first introduced in Tata Manza Hybrid. Tata will launch Kite in both manual as well as in automatic transmissions.
2015 will be a year for Tata as they are going to launch some budget cars which not only affect the sedan segment but hatchback segment too. Price of Kite sedan will be around 4 lakh while its hatchback sibling will cost around 3 lakh so both the cars will be threat to many cars like Hyundai Grand i10, Swift etc. Kite twins will be produced in Tata’s plant at Gujarat which has production capacity of around 1, 50,000.
Tata is certainly making good effort to improve its image by launching these good looking and budget cars and also serving Indian customers what they are looking for.
