Renault India has silently introduced a new top of the line Lodgy Stepway variant in India with the on road premium of 50,000-60,000 over the RxZ variant. The Stepway variant was showcased at Star guild awards in January 2015 and Paris motor show. The Stepway will go against the Honda Mobilio RS variant. The new variant is beefed up version of Lodgy MPV with some additional features while mechanically it remains same.
The Stepway variant is available in 7 and 8 seater configurations and carries forward the feature list of RxZ variant such as dual front airbags, reverse parking sensor, 7” touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, A/C for all three rows, Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and fog lamps.
The Stepway variant differs from the standard variant with new redesigned jewel-studded grille, sporty two-tone bumper, faux silver skid plates at front and rear, black side cladding, Lodgy sill plates, alloy wheels in gun metal color shade.
It also gets dark shade ORVMs, chrome scuff plates, satin finish roof rails and Stepway badge at the front doors and at rear.
Under the hood, is a 1.5Dci diesel motor generates competition best 108bhp power@4000rpm and 245Nm of peak torque@1750rpm comes with a 6-speed manual transmission and returns an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 19.98 KMPL.
Renault Lodgy is an all rounder car with oodles of space, good drivability and decent looks but the sales numbers aren’t turning out to be too great to beat segment leader Toyota Innova. Lodgy sells around 1900-2500 unit a month as compared to 5000 units of Toyota Innova. The Renault is relying heavily on Lodgy as they aims to take its market share to 5% in India.
