The Tata owned JLR (Jaguar Land Rover) has kicked off the year 2016 with the launch of new edition of XJ luxury sedan in India. Price starts from Rs. 98.03 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai), the XJ arrives with some cosmetic tweaks and added features. The benchmark of lavishness is offered in two trims- premium luxury and Portfolio, the superstar car will go one on one with Mercedes-Benz S Class, Audi A8 and BMW 7 series. The new Jaguar XJ continues to be manufactured at the company’s Pune facility. Here is all you need to know about the new sensation:-
Price:
The car is making its presence felt in three variants with price starting from Rs. 98.03 lakhs for the premium luxury version while the Portfolio petrol trim is available for Rs. 99.23 lakhs. The top of the line XJ portfolio Diesel version is priced at Rs. 1.05 Crores. All the prices are ex-showroom Mumbai.
Engine Details:
The flagship saloon is available with diesel and petrol engine options- The 3.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine delivers296bhp power and 700Nm of peak torque which helps it to make 0-100 sprint in mere 6.2 seconds before reaching the top speed of 250km/hr. On the other hand, the 2.0 liter petrol engine is good to belt out max power of 237bhp and 340Nm of peak torque. The petrol trim can sprint 0-100km in 7.9 seconds with the top speed of 241km/hr. Powering the rear wheels, both the engine make use of 9-speed ZF automatic transmission.
Exterior and Interior:
Though there are no drastic changes to the outside profile of the facelifted model but it do comes with full LED headlamps flanked by J-blade Daytime running lights and an updated mesh grille to compliment the front fascia. The drop waistline and chrome embedded windows adds more appeal to the car. At rear, it gets revamped bumper with new LED taillights and oval shaped tailpipes and makes new XJ distinctive and tempting.
On the inside, it bears gamut of lavish features such as 20.32 cm In control touch screen infotainment system with navigation, LED reading lights, 825W Meridian music system with 20 speakers and 2 woofers for excellent aural experience, grain leather upholstery with memory and massage function, panoramic glass roof, 31.24cm instrument display with useful MIDs, Smartphone alike touch with swipe, pinch and zoom gestures. For rear passengers, it offers 25.30 cm HD screens.
Colors:
The new Jaguar XJ is available in range of color shades such as Ammonite Grey, Aurora Red, Ultimate black, Polaris White, Dark Sapphire, Odyssey Red, Rhodium Silver and British racing red.
Safety:
The new Saloon comes with extensive list of safety aids like all surface progress control (ASPC), adaptive dynamics system, 360 degree park distance control with surround camera, Pedestrian contact system, eight airbags including two front, two rear, side curtain airbags, anti-whilpash technology which brings headrest forward in case of accident and cruise control to help driver in low-traction situations.
