Maruti Suzuki knows the art of keeping its models in the headlines by launching the limited or special editions. And this time, its turn for S-Cross to get a special edition named as Premia which is based on Delta trim of the DDis 200 version and comes with some additional goodies. Initially launched in August 2015, S-Cross has certainly made some buzz but it didn’t get the foot wells and response like Hyundai Creta is getting.
During the festive some dealers were giving heavy discounts by up to Rs. 1 lakh on S-Cross and now it received a limited edition to add some life to the slow selling model. The special edition is available for an attractive price of Rs. 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom) while the standard Delta variants retails at Rs. 9.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The limited edition is equipped with alloy wheels while the regular has full wheel caps. There is also a 5 inch Garmin navigation system with color display, front fog lamps, reverse parking camera and sensors, Dual front airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) and disc brakes on all four wheels with an aim to boost the sales.
Powering the Premia is the same 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine badged as DDis 200 that delivers 89bhp of max power@4000rpm and 200Nm of high torque@1750rpm paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine delivers a decent ARAI certified mileage of 23.65 KMPL and it also features variable geometry turbocharger.
The edition is for limited period only and will be exclusively sold via company’s NEXA dealerships. Also it will be available only in Tier-I cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore etc. The premium crossover hasn’t received warm response as compared to other Maruti models due to extravagant price range.
