Just In: New Hyundai Santro launched in India

After a long wait finally Hyundai has re-launched the Santro in the country today. The original Santro was launched in 1998 and the car kick-started the operations for Hyundai Motors in India. Now after almost two decades the santro is back with all new platform, features and design. The new Hyundai hatchback will be available in five variant levels. Check out the specifications of the car below:

Exterior:

The new Santro has a sharper design just like all the modern designs adopted by Hyundai cars. The car has got a new cascading grille flanked by oversized fog lamps. There are upward-sweeping angular headlamps. It also has 14-inch steel wheels with wheel caps. Hyundai Santro also gets ORVMs with Led turn indicators and a Honda BR-V like kink that increases the glass area on the rear door windows. The back profile is much like Gran-i10 with stubby tail lamps and an Elantra facelift like dual tone bumper.

Interior:

The interior of Santro 2018 is typically designed in Hyundai classic style, with a large screen edged with AC vents. It has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto both along with a rear view camera. There are segment-first rear AC vents with a manual air conditioning system.

Safety:

For the safety features, the Santro gets driver’s airbag along with ABS and EBD as standard across the variant lineup, while the top-spec Asta variant adds a passenger airbag as well.

Engine:

The car is powered by a re-worked 1.1-litre E-Epsilon engine. The revised 4-cylinder petrol engine makes 69PS of power and 99Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual or the in-house AMT.

The new Hyundai Santro is also available with factory-fitted CNG kit in the Magna and Sportz model. With CNG, the 1.1-litre petrol engine makes 69PS/84Nm with a 5-speed MT. Hyundai does not offer AMT option with CNG-powered Santro.

The new Hyundai Santro will be available with a standard warranty of 3 years/1 lakh km along with a standard 3 years RSA (roadside assistance). The car will compete with Maruti WagonR the Maruti Celerio and Tata Tiago in the compact hatchback segment.
