When we talk of Hybrid or eco friendly vehicles, Toyota motors hits the mind first and the company has added another vehicle to its arsenal in the form of Prius hybrid sedan which was first showcased at recently concluded Auto expo. In its fourth generation, the car was revealed at last year’s Frankfurt motor show and there are already 3.5 million Prius on road across the globe.
Powering the new GEN Prius is 1.8 litre Petrol VVT-I gasoline engine which is now retuned to deliver 40 percent better thermal efficiency along with 18 percent higher fuel efficiency. As a result, new GEN Prius now delivers admirable mileage of close to 40KMPL.
The DOHC petrol engine belts out max power of 97bhp and 142Nm of high torque mated to a electronic Continuously variable transmission gearbox. Furthermore, it also comes with a lithium ion hybrid battery located beneath the rear seats that powers two electric motors- one delivering 71bhp power and 163Nm torque while other one is good for 55Nm of peak torque.
Company’s first model to be based on Toyota’s new global architecture is now 60mm longer (4540mm), 15mm wider(1760mm) but 20mm shorter(1470mm) than the ongoing model while wheelbase of the new model remains same at 2700mm.
The Prius wears submissive styling cues wit Samurai shaped LED headlights with integrated turn blinkers, slim front grille, sharp side pillars and well complimented by edgy rear and Bloomberg shaped LED tail lamps. In terms of features it boards with 7 inch multimedia touchscreen information display, 6-way adjustable front seat with heated seats, back door smart entry, 4.2 inch dual multi information display with Qi warless Smartphone charging, climate control and much more.
For safety, the Hybrid sensation will be loaded with seven airbags, pre-collision system, ABS with EBD, automatic high beam assist, regenerative braking system, traction control, lane departure alert, vehicle stability control, pre-collision system, cruise control etc.
