Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is on sale in India since October 2014 and has been a success story for the carmaker as it retailed over 60,000 units in just ten months of its launch. In 2015, Maruti introduced the SHVS hybrid and RS variants of the mid size sedan and now have added an automatic transmission in the Vxi and Zxi variants of Ciaz.

Prior to this, automatic transmission is available on Zxi and Vxi+ variants but now to further create buzz among the buyers and to boost sales, Maruti has decided to add another variant with automatic gearbox. The AT variant is priced at Rs. 10.19 lakh (ex-showroom) which is approximately 1.13 lakh more than the manual variant.

Powering it is a 1.4litre K-series Petrol mill that develops 91bhp power@6000rpm and peak torque of 130Nm@4000rpm, linked to a four speed automatic gearbox. It delivers 19.12 KMPL of efficient mileage as compared to 20.73kmpl on manual versions. The Zxi+ variant comes with wider 195/55 section tyres as compared to 185 on the Zxi trim.

On the outside, the bold and aggressive styling remains same underpinned by sweptback headlamps while top variants get projector unit, multi slat front grille, creases on bonnet and elongated tail lamps. Inside as well you get all the bells and whistles such as big touchscreen infotainment system with navigation voice command, automatic climate control, leather seats, multi function steering wheel, front and rear armrest, rear AC vents with 12V charger, electrically adjustable outer rear view mirrors etc.

In terms of safety, the new variant gets Dual airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), reverse parking camera with guidelines, engine immobilizer, security alarm, rear parking sensors, rear defogger and seat belt pretensioners with force limiters.
