At the 2016 Auto expo, one of the major highlights of Hyundai Pavilion was i30 premium hatchback. According to reports, Hyundai will be launching the hatchback in India by the end of this year and will be placed above i20 with the price tag of Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom). Hyundai i30 is already on sale in various international markets including some parts of Europe.
In the U.S, the car is christened as hatchback version of Elantra sedan and it measures 4300mm in length, 1780mm in width, 1470mm in height and carries a wheelbase of 2650mm. In addition, it boasts of 378 liters of cargo capacity which is further extendable up to 1316 liters with rear seats folded. And, i30 will be the most spacious hatchback in the country when it will be launched.
In international markets it is sold with both petrol and diesel powertrains- 1.6 liter turbo diesel is available in two states of tunes- 110PS with 280Nm Torque and 138PS with 280Nm. The engine is linked to a six speed manual and seven speed automatic gearbox. Petrol department is taken care by 1.4l litre petrol that is tuned to produce 101PS power and 134Nm of torque along with bigger 1.6l Petrol that produce 122PS of max power and 156Nm of peak torque.
The i30 is also available in 3-door version to rival against Volkswagen Polo GTI, Punto Abarth and it is powered by 186PS turbo petrol engine. The bigger sibling of i20 will also get three driving modes-Normal, comfort and sport.
The Hyundai i30 is based on Hyundai’s latest fluidic sculpture design philosophy flanked by projector headlights with LED DRLs, large grille to sparkler the front fascia. Side profile displays coupe like styling with sloping roofline and prominent creases.
In terms of features, it will get TFT instrument cluster, steering mounted control, emergency stop signal, electronic stability control, rain/light sensors, seven airbags, 17 inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, vehicle stability management (VSM), blue link infotainment system with Apple siri and navigation support.
