The Swedish car maker, Volvo launched the petrol Avatar of V40 cross country in India and will launch the much awaited new XC 90 in the country on 12th May 2015. Volvo will show this new SUV in an event at Mumbai though the deliveries will begin from September 2015 for which bookings have already started at the non refundable amount of Rs. 5 lakh.
The Volvo XC 90 will reach the Volvo showrooms across India by July 2015 and it is based on the company’s Scalable platform architecture (SPA) and Volvo engine Architecture (VEA) carries the dimensions of 4950mm length, 1923mm width and 1776mm height and has a wheelbase of 2984mm.
The first generation XC90 was launched around 12 years ago, so the new one becomes really important launch for Volvo because this new model has created a lot of buzz in International markets since its launch in 2014. Globally the company has received over 20,000 pre-bookings for the new XC90 and we hope Volvo gets the same success in India as well.
In international markets, XC90 is available in two petrol and a diesel engines with a Hybrid variant but for India Volvo will launch the diesel engine only. Volvo will offer XC90 in two trims- Momentum and Inscription. Powering the new XC 90 will be the 2.0L four cylinder diesel engine that delivers the maximum output of 225bhp and 470Nm torque and comes with an eight speed automatic transmission.
The new XC90 features sleek headlamps with T-shaped LED DRLs, sporty bumper, new grille and C shaped LED tail lights. The momentum variant will get features such as keyless entry, parking assist, hill descent control, panoramic sunroof, LED headlamps, electrically adjustable driver seat with heating and memory function and 12.3 inch screen at central console with navigation and phone connectivity features.
The Inscription variant will get some additional features such as Nappa leather seats, 19 speaker bows and Wilkins music system, head-up display, wood trims, air suspension and ventilated front seats.
New XC90 will brought to India as a CBU unit at the expected price renege of Rs. 85-90 lakh and competes with BMW X5, Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GL-ML class. The Volvo will launch the Petrol version of XC90 later this year followed by T8 Hybrid version.
