January is always an important month for the car makers as it is a first month of the year and can be a new beginning for every car maker. We witnessed quite a few car launches in January 2015 from Datsun Go plus MPV to Mercedes CLA sedan apart from new launches some auto majors introduced new variants of its well established cars like Toyota with new Fortuner, Volkswagen came up with Cross Polo etc. We bring you all important events in the month of January 2015.

Toyota Fortuner 2.5L and 4×4 variants at Rs. 24.44 and 26.59 lakhs

Toyota Kirloskar motors launched new variants of Fortuner SUV on 6th January 2015 Toyota introduced Fortuner 4×4 variant at Rs. 26.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) with some exterior and interior changes.

Just after the launch of automatic variant of Fortuner, Toyota introduced a new 2.5L Fortuner in manual as well in automatic variant. Its manual variant cost at Rs. 24.44 lakh while AT variant was priced at Rs. 25.44 lakh. Both the prices are ex showroom Delhi. Mahindra Scorpio S4+ variant at Rs. 9.70 lakhs on 9th January 2015

On 9 January 2015 the home grown auto major Mahindra has added a new S4+ variant in existing Scorpio line up at Rs. 9.70 lakh. New variant of Scorpio is packed with more safety features and optional shift on fly four wheel drive system. Probably India’s best SUV was launched in new avatar in September 2014 with cosmetic and cabin changes. Honda launched Amaze and Brio AVN variants on 13th January 2015

Honda India introduced VX (O) variant for Amaze sedan and VX variant of Brio hatchback both the variants equipped with AVN (Audio video navigation) system. Honda priced Amaze VX (O) petrol variant at Rs. 7.32 lakh and Diesel variant at Rs. 8.20 lakh. A Honda Brio hatchback VX petrol manual variant costs Rs. 5.99 lakh and VX automatic at Rs. 8.20 lakh. Volkswagen Cross Polo petrol version at Rs. 6.94 lakh- 14 January 2015

Volkswagen India has launched petrol version of its Crossover Cross Polo at Rs. 6.94 lakh (Ex-showroom). Cross Polo was available only in diesel motor prior to this variant. Cross Polo is now powered to a 1.2L MPI motor that produces 74bhp power and 110Nm torque and can return 16.47 km/l mileage. This new variant might help Volkswagen in booting the dismal sales of Cross Polo. Read more..

Datsun Go plus MPV at Rs. 3.79 lakh- 15th January 2015

The Budget brand of Nissan, ‘Datsun’ has launched its second product in India as Datsun Go plus MPV at Rs. 3.79 lakh for the base variant and Rs. 4.61 variant for Top variant. Go+ MPV is the first MPV under sub 4 meter segment with the seating capacity of 7 persons. GO+ MPV is powered by the same engine of its hatchback sibling. Datsun is also offering some customization packages for Datsun Go plus but for some extra bucks. MPV at this price is just a steal but major cause of concern is its Hatchback sibling failure in NCAP crash test. Read more..

Tata Bolt launched on 22nd January 2015 at Rs. 4.44 lakh

On 22nd January 2015 Tata joined the premium hatchback club with its new offering ‘Bolt’. This Tall boy by Tata comes in eight variants and two engine options. Petrol version of Bolt starts from Rs. 4.44 lakh which goes up to Rs. 6.05 lakh while diesel bolt starts from Rs. 5.49 lakh to 6.99 lakh. Bolt is the second vehicle after Zest to be based on HORIZONEXT technology and it is loaded with tons of interior and safety features which can give its rival cars stiff competition. Read more..

Mercedes Benz CLA class sedan at Rs. 31.50 lakh- 22nd January 2015

Mercedes had a tremendous 2014 by retailing over 10000 units in India for the first time and for 2015 Mercedes will launch around 15 new models to strengthen its position in the country. Mercedes started up the 2015 with the launch of CLA class sedan between the prices of Rs. 31.5-35.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). CLA class sedan is direct rival for Audi’s most affordable offering A3 sedan which was launched in 2014. Read more..

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz gets new Zxi+, Zdi+ variants at Rs. 9.08 lakh

It seems Maruti Suzuki is worried about the unsatisfactory sales of Ciaz sedan and excellent sales of its rival Honda city. India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki launched new top variants of Ciaz sedan, Zxi+ at Rs. 9.08 lakh and Zdi+ for Rs. 10.37 lakh. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz managed to outshine Honda city during the initial phase of launch but fails to sustain the momentum for following months. Maruti Ciaz is feature rich offering from Maruti but its under power engines somehow spoils the show. Read more..
