Maruti Suzuki India has silently launched new top variants of Ciaz sedan priced at Rs. 9.08 lakh for the ZXI+ and Rs. 10.37 lakhs for the ZDI+ variant. In October 2014 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz was launched in four trims V, V+, Z and Z (O) available in both petrol and diesel engine options. Ever since Ciaz was launched it was praised for its spacious cabin, mileage and feature richness but somehow criticized for it’s under powered engines.

During its initial phase of launch it managed to beat Segment leader Honda City in October sales but somehow it fails to outshine City in the following months. May be Maruti is trying to cover the fact of Ciaz’s underpowered engines by offering feature rich new variants.

Both ZXI+ and ZDI+ will replace Z (O) variants and it is equipped with features like:-

  • 7 inch Smart play touchscreen infotainment system with Voice command and navigation and reverse parking assistance display
  •  leather wrapped steering wheel and Leather seats
  • 16 inch alloy wheels

Apart from such features new variants of Ciaz get some additional features as standard like Projector headlamps, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable ORVMs, steering mounted controls, rear A/C vents, rear parking sensors, dual front air bags, ABS with EBD etc.

New Variants of Ciaz will continue to get power from 1.4L K series petrol engine that produces 91bhp power@6000rpm and 130Nm torque@4000rpm while the 1.3L diesel engine gives 89bhp power@4000rpm and 200Nm of torque@1750rpm. Both the trims are mated to five speed manual transmission while petrol version also gets 4 speed AT.

New variants of Ciaz are slightly cheaper in price than the top variants of City, ZXI+ is around Rs. 28000 is cheaper than City Vx while ZDI+ is cheaper by Rs. 18,000 as compared to Honda City diesel variant.

After the excise duty hike Maruti Suzuki has increased prices of it’s all variants by up to 4%, so new prices of Ciaz start from Rs. 7.21 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
