Auto Expo 2016: Hyundai brings Genesis brand, launch in consideration

The premium luxury car makers are having an amusing phase in the Indian market as year by year the sales of premium cars are rising at the rate of knots. The German Trio Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW primarily dominating the segment and providing cut throat competition to each other to rule the reign. Now joining the bandwagon is Hyundai’s Genesis luxury car brand at the auto Expo by revealing its first offering G90.

Based on G vision coupe concept, the sedan will lock its Horns with Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-class, Jaguar XF and BMW 5-series. Built on new light weight aluminium platform, G90 weighs only 1880kg and measures 4990mm in length, 1890mm in width and 1480mm. It has a long wheelbase of 3010mm to ensure optimal space for its occupants.

Speaking of the design, it is undoubtedly most good looking Hyundai till date as it sports multi frame chrome grille incorporates by amusing sweptback HID LED headlamps and fog lamps flanked by short overhangs, 19 inch alloy wheels and puddle lamps with Genesis logo. At the rear there are dual exhausts integrated into rear bumper, LED fog lamps and single slate LED tail lamps up the premiumness of the luxury sedan.

On the inside, the swanky interiors are graced by matte finish wood touch, panoramic sunroof, dual monitor for rear seat entertainment, 9.2 HD display infotainment system, premium leather upholstery, ventilated seats, 17-speaker lexicon sound system while safety department is taken care by Smart cruise control, lane departure warning with lane keep assist, continuous damping control, blind spot detection, automatic emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert and intelligent drive mode etc.

The Genesis is available with four powertrains international a 3.0 litre Lambda II GDi petrol engine delivering 249PS and 304Nm of high torque and a 3.3 litre Lambda GDi petrol is good for 282PS and 347Nm. It is also powered by 3.8 Litre mill that produces 315PS power and 397Nm of peak torque and top spec variant is fitted with a chunky 5.0 litre Tau GDi petrol that develops massive 413PS of max power and 505Nm of torque. All the engines are linked to an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard.

Hyundai Genesis aims to offer all the luxury and elegance of Germans trio but at an affordable price.
