Volkswagen Compact Sedan Snapped testing, to be called Polo plus or Vento CS

After Ford’s entry into the compact sedan segment with Figo Aspire now it’s time for German car maker Volkswagen to make entry into the potential segment with the Polo based compact sedan which was recently spotted in India. In recent times many car manufactures have placed their vehicles in this competitive segment but Volkswagen had kept away from this segment but the potential and good sales figures of this segment are too good to be ignored.

Volkswagen is planning to launch compact sedan since 2013 but the designers were unsure to arrive at the right design for compact sedan but now VW designers have taken enough time to ensure that its design compliments the dimensional restrictions.  Reports also suggest that the compact sedan could be called Polo plus or Vento CS.

The spotted test mule indicates that the front has different headlamps and grille as compared to Polo hatchback and Vento while rear end gets boxy boot with similar kind of tail lamps like Vento but with different pattern.

On the inside, dashboard will be same as Polo including the Piano black finish central console, Flat bottom steering wheel and you will find several features that are similar to Vento sedan and Polo Hatchback.

To avail the tax benefits, compact sedan is expected to get 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel engines which would result in certain cost and tax advantages. The Polo based compact sedan is likely to priced between Rs. 5.5-8 lakh (ex-showroom).

Volkswagen has not officially revealed the launch date of compact sedan but it is likely to make its debut in next year’s auto expo and the car will launched in mid 2016. Once launched, VW’s compact sedan to face competitors such as Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Tata Zest and upcoming Ford Figo Aspire.
