If you were an Army kid or somehow related to Army you have certainly know about the Jonga, the one ton SUV and that was a Nissan Patrol luxury SUV dubbed as Jonga for the Indian Army. Nissan is planning to introduce the full sized ‘Patrol’ luxury SUV in India.
Nissan India has silently discontinued the X-trail SUV in the market and now some reports suggest that Nissan Patrol will be launching in India soon and will go against Toyota Land Cruiser.
This will the good step for the Japanese auto giant as it not only increase the product line-up in the country but will also boost the brand image in the country. Nissan used to sell many products in India that has been discontinued now such as Teana, 370z and now X-trial.
The Nissan Patrol will be brought as a CBU and expected to priced at Rs. 1 crore (Ex-showroom Delhi) and will go head to head with Toyota Land Cruiser which is available at Rs. 1.19 crore (ex-showroom).
The Patrol SUV will feature a four wheel drive system would get 5.6L V8 Petrol motor which is good enough to produce 400bhp power and 570Nm of peak torque. Internationally Patrol is available with three transmission options- a 6-speed manual, a 5-speed automatic and a 7 speed automatic but for India only 7-speed automatic with 4×4 variant is expected.
In the Past Nissan hasn’t had much success with CBU models but to ensure that Patrol SUV will able to wipe out that tag Nissan has fitted Patrol with 18 inch alloy wheels, AWD, remote keyless entry, cruise control, 2-DIN audio system with 4 speakers, brake assist, automatic hazard lighting system, ABS, EBD, Dual SRS airbags and four modes- Sand, On-road, snow and rock.
Nissan Patrol is a full size seven seater SUV that is build on ladder frame chassis and it will lock its horns with Toyota Land cruiser, Audi Q7 and Mercedes Benz GL.
