Following the trend and need of automatics, the Home Grown car major Tata has launched the AMT at XTA trim for Rs. 4.79 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Till now, it was available only with the top spec XZ variant with all the bells and whistles. Tata is also likely to launch the XTA (O) variant soon. Tata’s small wonder Tiago has been achieving great heights every now and then; recently it surpassed the 1 lakh sales mark and has grabbed many Car of the Year Awards.
The XTA variant is based on XT trim which is around Rs. 42,000 affordable than the AMT variant. For the extra 42K bucks you spend for the top ranging XZA grade, you get ORVMs with LED turn blinkers, chrome treatment on air con vents and fog lamps. You also get MID with fuel and temperatures display, 4 tweeters, steering mounted controls, dual front airbags, ABS, seatbelts with pre-tensioners and much more.
The XT variant misses out certain features such as ORVM with turn indicators, rear wiper, defogger, alloy wheels, front fog lamps, steering mounted controls and Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD).
Except for the features, The XTA is mechanically same it takes the juice from a 1.2 litre three cylinder petrol motor that makes 84bhp power and 114Nm of torque. The manual Tiago petrol delivers 23.84 Kmpl and we expect AMT to deliver around same.
Besides, Tiago is also available in diesel trim which includes a 1.0l engine that churns out 69bhp power and 140Nm of torque, linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It is good to return an ARAI rated mileage of 27.28 Kmpl.
