After making debut at 2016 Auto Expo earlier this year the Tata kite 5 sedan in light blue color shade has been spotted testing. The Tiago based compact sedan was first expected to launch during this festive season but Tata is planning to introduce it before Hexa crossover i.e. in July-August period. The name hasn’t be finalized yet, but the company is considering quite a few names and might run a contest for finalizing similar to Tiago.
The Tata Kite 5 sedan will be slotted below Zest and will take on the benchmark setter Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, and Ford Figo Aspire etc. Some reports suggest that it might be priced around Rs. 3.7 lakh for the base variant which cater it to create its own segment.
When showcased at Auto Expo, it bears parallel design cues of Tiago however spied images showcasing some changes though we are not sure due to blur pictures. The compact sedan does look stylish thanks to coupe like stance, chrome lining underneath window glasses, crisp line that rises with the shoulder line and tail lamps adding to the glam factor of the compact sedan.
Tata Kite 5 measures 3995 mm in length, 1647 mm in width, 1535 mm in height and rides on 2450 mm wheelbase. With regards to decent space at front and rear, it has a class leading boot space of 420 liters and lots of storage spaces inside.
The sedan is likely to share most of features with the hatchback sibling Harmon Kardon infotainment system with navigation, eight speaker audio system, three spoke multi function steering wheel, piano black central console, ambient lighting, dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, reverse parking camera, corner stability control etc.
The powertrains line up will include a 1.2l Revotron MPFI petrol motor delivering 85PS power@6000rpm and 114Nm of torque@3500rpm paired to a five speed manual gearbox. The 1.05l Revotorq three cylinder CRDI diesel engine produces 70PS of maximum power@4000rpm and peak torque of 140Nm between 1800-3000rpm. This engine might get a five speed manual as standard along with an AMT.
