Ssangyong CEO Yoo II Lee today announced that the name of Codenamed X100 SUV crossover christened as Tivoli which is named after a city situated near Rome. It will launch in South Korea and United Kingdom in January 2015 and in rest of the world by mid 2015 which is under development stage from past three years.
Ssang Yong Tivoli is the most vital product for Korean car maker as it will be the compact and least expensive offering by Ssang Yong and Tivoli will have an engine among the seven set of engines which are developed by M&M and Ssang Yong collectively.
Tivoli will make its debut with 1.6L petrol and diesel engines in Korea but India will get the same engine is still a doubt. Ssang Yong will be offered in a two wheel and four wheel drive system and will be mated to six speed manual or six speed automatic transmission. Two wheel drive system will emanate 120g/km CO2.
Apart from revealing name of its X100 as Tivoli Company also revealed the images of car’s exterior and interiors, according to the images Tivoli shares Ssang Yong’s new design technology. Apart from that interiors looks spacious and luxurious, it also supports latest gadgets and IT devices.
In Korea Ssang Yong holds fifth position in domestic SUV market will be hoping that this compact SUV will strengthen company’s position further. Ssang Yong domestic sales are up from 6% to 8% with 692$ million local currency exports.
Price is still a doubt but it will be around 9-12 lakhs and it will take on Ford Eco Sport, Renault Duster and upcoming Hyundai ix25.
