Czech automaker Skoda is all set to expand its line up in India with the launch of Skoda Kodiaq Rapid Monte Carlo and Octavia RS in India. Skoda has started accepting pre-booking for the last two models in India. Skoda has been touting the launch Kodiaq SUV for quite some time now and it was expected to be launched soon but unfortunately that’s not happening. The Kodiaq launch has been pushed to 2018 as brand wants to concentrate on Octavia RS and Rapid Monte Carlo.
When launched, Skoda Kodiaq will be available in one petrol and two diesel engine. The petrol segment includes a 2.0 that makes 177bhp power and 320Nm of torque. The diesel is available with states of tunes, the 2.0l engine makes 147bhp power and 340Nm of torque and 187bhp and 400Nm of torque. Both engines are available with six speed manual gearbox as standard and six/seven speed DSG auto gearboxes. There could be AWD on offer on the top spec variant.
Coming to the design, the Kodiaq comes with three dimensional front grille with Full LED headlamps with LED DRLs and fog lamps. The sides get new alloy wheels, side creases while rear gets LED tail lamps. On the inside it comes with premium leather upholstery, dual zone automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple car play and Android Auto, electric driver seat, engine start/stop, four camera set up, six airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD).
At tape, it measures 4697mm in length, 1882mm of width and 2700mm of wheelbase. It has 2005 liters of boot space with third row folded. The SUV comes with 190mm of ground clearance and 300 mm of water depth capacity.
It is expected to be priced at Rs. 28-30 lakhs (ex-showroom) and will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Hyundai Santa Fe. While Kodiaq has some time to land on India shores, Octavia RS will be launched in India next month and its prices will be revealed soon.
