Rolls Royce has announced the name of its upcoming car, a drophead (means a convertible in rolls-Royce language) but the company won’t call it a convertible. Instead, the company has a different and unique name for its upcoming model to be known as ‘Dawn’.
We’ve been hearing about Royce’s convertible for a while now and spy pictures have been spotted many times on the web. The car was revealed at a 2015 World dealer global meeting in Los Angeles, California and introduced to representatives of 130 strong global dealer network and will be launched during the first quarter of 2016.
Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, Chief Executive Officer said, “Our new Rolls-Royce Dawn promises a striking, seductive encounter like no other Rolls-Royce to date,”
“Dawn is a beautiful new open-top motor car with a name that suggests the fresh opportunities that every new day holds – an awakening, an opening up of one’s senses and a burst of sunshine. It will be the most social of super-luxury motor cars for those beautiful people who wish to bathe in the sunlight of the world’s social hotspots.”
The forthcoming Rolls Royce Dawn will revive the memories of this name used in 1949 for 28 drophead models between 1950 and 1954. The original Silver Dawn was first Rolls-Royce to be offered with a factory made body and this forthcoming model will be the sixth model in the company’s line-up.
The car will be a four seat convertible and will share design cues with Ghost series and Wraith drophead coupe from both front and rear sides. The Rolls Royce Dawn will sport a Soft rooftop and will be as silent as Wraith. The company will have its work cut out to match the elegance and class of original Silver dawn.
Powering the Rolls-Royce Dawn would be the same 6.6L twin turbocharged V12 engine that develops 624HP power and 800Nm of peak torque and can make 0-100 km in 4.6 seconds.
The Rolls Royce Dawn will make its debut in second half of this year and will go on sale in Early 2016 but the Brand has already started taking pre-orders.
