Owing to SUV-ish design, aggressive price range and feature richness, the French automajor has managed to set a new record with its compact hatchback Kwid. Also, the huge keenness for the hatch has resulted for a waiting period of 6 months, though it varies depending upon the variant, color and your city.
After launching it in a price bracket of Rs. 2.56-3.53 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), company has now announced that the bookings for the Kwid have crossed 50,000 units mark in less than five weeks.
The Kwid is available with a single three-cylinder 799cc petrol engine that belts out 53bhp@5678rpm and 72Nm of torque@4386rpm while power is sent to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. The hatch also delivers ARAI certified fuel mileage of 25.17 KMPL making it the most fuel efficient petrol car in the country.
Renault Kwid features few first-in-segment features like 7 inch MEDIANAV touchscreen display, 300 liters of boot space, digital instrument cluster and class leading ground clearance of 180mm. Being based on Renault’s new CMF-A platform, it measures 3679mm in length, 1579mm in width, 1478mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2422mm which makes it one of the spacious car in its segment.
Renault India has also managed to expand its network from 14 sales and service outlets in mid 2011 to 180 now. It is now aimed to take this number to 280 by the end of 2016. With Kwid, Renault has entered a new Era of growth in the country with its considerable efforts and developments on product.
