To further boost up the sales of its bestselling SUV Duster, Renault has silently rolled out a limited edition of the SUV called the Duster explore edition. Sales figure of this popular SUV witnessed a sudden crash due to the advent of Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. The explore edition carries as many as 24 new additions with no mechanical alterations at all.
The limited edition is available in diesel trim only and has been introduced in two variants. Below are the (ex-showroom Delhi) prices of the limited edition
- Renault Duster Explore edition 85PS RXL: Rs. 9.99 lakh
- Renault Duster Explore edition 110PS RXL: Rs. 11.10 lakh
Cosmetic additions on limited edition include headlamps with smoked effect, dark chrome grille, racing stripes on the bonnet and secondary fog lamps under the front grille. Moving to the sides, it gets black wing mirrors, orange colored surround on anthracite black alloy wheels, stripes on lower part of the doors and matt black stripping on B &D pillars. The rear end only gets a dark chrome strip on the tail gate.
The enhancements inside the cabin are subtle but refreshing and it gets spruced up with lots of orange and aluminum elements. The cabin beautifies what Renault calls Nouveau orange theme which highlights AC vents, central console, seats, door trim, orange stitch on leather wrapped steering wheel, orange coated floor mats and instrument cluster.
Powering the limited explore edition is known 1.5 litre K9K diesel unit with two power outputs- 85PS and 110PS. The former is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and delivers 19.87 KMPL of mileage while latter comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox and returns an ARAI certified mileage of 19.64 KMPL.
This is a forced move by French car maker to tackle the sky rocketing sales of Creta and decent seller Maruti S-Cross. Renault will unveil the duster facelift in the upcoming 2016 Delhi auto expo.
Speaking about the new Limited Edition Duster Explore, Mr. Sumit Sawhney, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault India Operations said, “With Duster, we created a new segment in the Indian automotive industry. Duster plays a key role in Renault’s growth plans in India. As a forward-looking company, we have kept the Duster fresh and contemporary, exceeding customer expectations and building on the legacy of India’s favorite SUV. We are confident that the Duster will continue to be the benchmark in this category, and the newly launched Limited Edition Duster Explore will further build the Duster brand in India.”
