One of India’s popular SUV Renault Duster which was launched in July 2012 in India followed by AWD version later has been among the top selling car for a while now. Since its launch the design has remained same despite of few updates and with three gone by the SUV certainly needs an update. The launch of Hyundai Creta has dented Duster’ sales quite a bit and its sales now drops down to 2500 units as compared to 4000 units a month.
So Renault is definitely feel the heat and now pepping to launch a facelift of Duster in India next year. The compact SUV with heavy camouflage was caught testing many times this year and it is already launched in Brazil.
Renault Duster facelift is likely to introduce in February next year during Indian auto expo while official launch might take place in first half of 2016. The 2016 Duster will come with some handful of new upgrades both internally and externally which will feature a dual slat grille design housing company’s diamond logo, revamped bumper, redesigned black alloy wheels, new headlamp units with smoked effect. The rear of new Duster will sport new tail light cluster with LED effect, modified bumper and new roof rails.
The interior will get a new MediaNAV touchscreen infotainment System with navigation and Bluetooth connectivity, revamped instrument cluster, new color themes, upholstery and cruise control. The carmaker might also enhance the safety of the car and offer dual front airbags and ABS as standard across all variants of new Duster.
Under the hood, the 2016 Renault Duster could retain the 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine that develops power in two state of tune — 84bhp and 108bhp and 1.6l petrol engines. Both the engines are mated to 5-speed and 6-speed manual gearboxes. The new Duster is also likely to get an AMT (Automated manual transmission) with the diesel motor.
