British small car brand maker MINI which is now part of BMW group has launched the Third generation MINI cooper in India on 19th November 2014 at the Price of 31.85 lakh (ex-showroom India). MINI has arrived in 2012 in India since than this brand has gathered immense interest especially from the youth. Cooper is available in 3 door and 5 door versions and will sell under cooper D badge, main attraction of event was the introduction of 5 door variant which cooper has done for the first time.

BMW India has finally launched new MINI series at the price of Rs. 31.85 lakh for 3 door version and Rs. 35.20 lakh for 5-door version (Ex-showroom Pan India) which will go on sale from today.
Engine Details:
New MINI is offered in three Petrol and Two diesel engine options globally, but in India MINI cooper D is available with 1.5L 3 cylinder Diesel engine which is able to generate 141bhp power@4000rpm and 270Nm torque@1750rpm mated to six speed automatic gearbox which allows it touch top speed of 200 km/hr and it can accelerates 0-100 km in 9.2 seconds with the fuel efficiency of 21.15 KPL.
Space and Dimensions:
MINI Cooper 3 door model now carries a larger footprint with increase in height by 7mm, width by 44mm and length by 98mm which now stands at 3821mm long, 1727mm wide and 1414mm height. Wheelbase of 3 door model also extended by 28mm with 2495mm and boot space of 211 liters.
MINI Cooper 5 door model is a longer one thanks to 72mm of extended wheel base and dimensions of 3982mm length, 1727mm wide and 1425mm height with the wheelbase of 2567mm. boot space of 5 door model is 67 liters more than the 3 door model. Both the cars have seating capacity of 5 persons.
Exterior and Interior:
MINI has not main change much change to the overall design element of Cooper series by maintaining same iconic styling with some cosmetic changes chrome surrounded LED headlights with daytime running lights, sleek bonnet with new grille and pair of fog lamps, side profile of MINI cooper 3 door has remain same with black out pillars, funkier wheels, body painted rear view mirrors, chrome door handles etc. Rear profile gets some change like shiny LED tail lights, revamped bumper with protection claddings and exhausted tail pipes.
Inside the cabin, MINI is beautifully designed and packed with sophisticated features like premium quality leather upholstery with black and beige colors, refreshing instrument cluster behind the multi-function steering wheel, redesigned central console with 6.5 inch infotainment system housing navigation system, web radio, reverse parking camera etc. Apart from that, MINI 3 door has comfortable seats with good lateral support with height adjustable front seats, smoke package and velour floor mats etc.
MINI 5 door on the other side houses more comfort and big seats with various color scheme options, door handles with grey, off-white and Piano black shades, air cons are chrome surrounded unlike the three door model, 6.5 inch TFT screen as standard and 8.8 inch display as optional, IRVM’s with anti-dazzle feature, MINI connected multimedia infotainment system, spacious glove box and MINI controller etc.
Colors:
MINI cooper D is available in 12 attractive colors– Volcanic orange, pepper white, moonwalk grey, white silver metallic, Chili red, blazing red, thunder grey metallic, iced chocolate metallic, lapis luxury blue, deep blue metallic, electric blue metallic, British racing green metallic and midnight black.
Safety:
Both the models are equipped with tons of safety features to provide utmost safety to its occupants with features like 6 airbags for front passengers and side airbags to protect them from any kind of impact, ABS (Anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic braking system), run flat tyres, built in camera for traffic ahead, brake assist, electronic stability program, traction control, active pedestrian system, adaptive control system, rear fog lights with rear parking distance control and white direction indication lights.
Verdict:
MINI cooper is a power packed car in terms of performance and acceleration with good mileage but higher price range and fewer authorized centre are drawbacks of MINI cooper D.
