Well if you are a Honda fan, then this is gonna be great news for u! Honda is planning to launch its diesel version of its popular SUV CRV in India by the year 2015, though exact time is not decided yet. It might come at a price of around Rs. 20 lacs because of local assembly rather than coming as a CBU from Japan, thus at a cheaper price. Let’s get a sneak peak of the specifications and features of this upcoming car:
Specifications:
Honda showcased this compact SUV at the Geneva Autoshow this yr in March and now the car is already launched in Europe, so imagining the similar specification for the Indian version too, under the hood you will find 1.6l i-DTEC 4 cyl Earth Dreams Technology diesel engine with displacement capability of 1596cc. According to Honda’s claim it is the lightest diesel engine in its class. The max torque that this SUV will provide will be around 300 Nm @ 2000 rpm and offering max power of 120 bhp @ 4000 rpm. The mileage factor should be around 15 kpl for city driving and 18kpl on highways. Coming to the transmission, the 2-wheel drive version has a 5-speed manual gearbox. The CO2 emission released by the car will be as low as 119 g/km. The vehicle can capacitate 5 people. The boot space offered will be around 1648 l with foldable rear seats to increase the boot space. So being a mini-SUV it will have tough competition from cheaper Mini –SUVs like Duster, Terrano and EcoSport which also capacitate 5 people and definitely its peers like Outlander, Fortuner and Rexton.
Features:
The car is almost same as the 2013 CR-V from the features and looks perspective. Let’s start with the dimensions. Length-wise the car 4545mm, width-wise it is 1820 mm and height-wise it is 2620 mm. The ground clearance factor is 170 mm, so you can enjoy the smooth drive even on a bumpy road. Like its petrol counterpart the vehicle allows you to revitalize every character in you beginning of an adventurer to a businessman. Let me give you a quick description of the energetic looks of this 4-wheeler. The front grill has 3 bold chrome bars right at the end of the bonnet holding the brand signature right in the middle. On the either side of the grill you will find 2 large headlamps and built in a style as if adding wings to the grill, so it’s a warning from me that while you take the picture of the front seductive grill and bonnet, hold some weight in your hands, so that you might not fly!!:p Honda Gives you wings!!
Below the chrome grill you will find the air-intake grill bounded by the cladding which goes over the wheels and sides and ands at the back, thus adding to the macho looks and safety. On the either sides are stylish fog lamps. Now moving to the side profile, the car has appropriate bends where needed, The ORVMs are body coloured and have turn indicators on them. Tall 17” alloy wheels have flower shaped 10 spokes on it. The window case is all lined with chrome starting with the front window to the rear window. And the rear, the thing you loved in its petrol counterpart was its curvy rear with its elongated tail lamps in a peculiar shape. It also might have the shark fish antenna like it has on the petrol counterpart.
Let’s jump inside:
The interiors are soothing with its comfy black designed upholstery and dual zone climate control air conditioner. The car has power steering, power driver seat, remote fuel filler and remote boot! You will delighted to find the Audio Video Navigation (AVN) system which will be 6.1 inch touch screen with a menu- General, Bluetooth, Phone, A/V, Sound and Navigation. It is also configured with the rear view camera. It also comes with Idle – stop technology and ECO mode settings to inspire the driver to drive fuel economically.
Coming to the safety section, there is a GCON feature, unique to Honda which reduces the impact of a crash coupled with the Ace- body structure which distributes the frontal crash energy on the front of the car. There are other safety features like the Hill start assist, 6 airbags, VSA and ABS with EBD to handle the car during understeer and oversteer. It is expected that it will also have the foot light to help you locate things at bottom like in its 2013 petrol version.
So guys that seems quite interesting right..??? Just wait and watch when will this diesel angel land on Indian soil..!!
