The premium SUV segment in India is about to witness a storm as Toyota’s new Fortuner has finally landed. Since its launch in 2009, Fortuner has been a favorite for seven seat SUV buyers in the country. Toyota Fortuner sits on top as an undisputed best seller despite stiff competition from Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Chevrolet Trailblazer. To continue its dominance in the D2 segment, Toyota has replaced the old model with new modular second generation Fortuner. Price:
The new gen Fortuner is offered in six variants– Petrol 4X2 MT, Petrol 4X2 AT, Diesel 4X2 MT, Diesel 4X2 AT, Diesel 4X4 MT, and Diesel 4X4 AT. Prices of Fortuner petrol trim range between Rs. 25.92 lakh and Rs. 27.61 lakh while diesel starts at Rs. 27.52 lakh and goes all the way to Rs. 31.12 lakh. All the prices are of ex-showroom Delhi.
Engine Details:
Just to remind you, Toyota Fortuner is the only SUV in its segment to offer petrol engine. The SUV includes 2.7 litre petrol and 2.8l diesel engines of Innova Crysta. The gasoline motor VVTi motor develops 164bhp@5200 and 245Nm of torque@4000rpm. This engine is offered with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 2.8 l oil burner churns out 174bhp of max power@3400rpm and torque goes to 450Nm between 1600-2400rpm. The diesel trims can be had in either 6-speed manual as well 6-speed automatic transmission aided by paddle shifters. Additionally, the 2.8l variants are available in both 2WD and all wheel drive modes.
Space and Dimensions:
Based on all new TNGA platform of Innova Crysta, the new generation model is lighter and more efficient than before. The 2016 Toyota Fortuner measures 4795mm in length, 1855mm in width and 1835mm in height. The SUV sits on a wheelbase of 2745mm which translates into ample space inside and offers 225mm of ground clearance.
Exterior and Interior:
Underpinned by new TNGA platform, New Fortuner is a complete digression from its previous model and is much more butch yet youthful. Front fascia looks a lot urban-r thanks to massive twin slat front chrome grille that pulls out towards dual projector LED headlamps flanked by LED daytime running lights. The modified front bumper comes with integrated fog lamps, chrome accents and LED reflectors. Side includes 17/18 inch alloy wheels, chrome handles, integrated OVRMs while at rear the rugged SUV gets elongated LED tail lamps and bold chrome strip between them to keep the model premium.
Transformation continues even inside the cabin and interiors are finished in dual tone beige and black colors. In terms of features 7.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and reverse parking camera assistance, leather upholstery, automatic climate control, one touch tumble for 2nd and 3rd row seats, eight way power adjust front seats, 60:40 spilt for 2nd row seats, start/stop button, multi function steering wheel with audio controls, new TFT instrument cluster and electric tailgate etc.

The new Gen Toyota Fortuner is available in seven color options which are super white, Phantom brown, Avant grade Bronze, attitude black, silver metallic, grey metallic and white pearl crystal shine.
