After seeing the growing potential of premium SUV market in India, Mitsubishi is all set to re-introduce Big SUV Montero to India very soon and started accepting bookings for the same. The SUV is already listed on company’s official website and interested one can book it at Mitsubishi dealers for a token amount of Rs. 10 lakhs. It will be brought via CBU route and might be priced around the jaw dropping price of Rs. 70 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra) while the old model was available at Rs. 40 lakh.
However, Mitsubishi don’t seem to get the real issue even now as the old gen model didn’t find buyers due to high price range so we don’t get the thinking behind the same old model with few tweaks at eye watering price. The Japanese carmaker is not known for its luxurious image in India so this kind of pricing could prove fatal for the new gen premium SUV.
On the design front, majority of changes sports on the front fascia in the form of new headlight cluster with LED daytime running lights, new front chrome grille, new front bumper embedded with LED strip and new alloy wheels. The rear side remains moreover same except for the tailgate mounted steering wheel.
The Bold rugged SUV will be available in seven paint schemes- Warm white Mica, black Mica, White Solid, Quartz brown metallic, Eiger gray metallic, Platinum beige metallic and cool silver metallic.
Some modifications have been made inside such as tilted and sliding panoramic sunroof, fully automatic climate control, aluminum pedals, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, power front seats, a big touchscreen infotainment system and premium leather upholstery for seats and leather package for 4-spoke multi function steering wheel, gear knob and brake lever.
Coming to the core part, it is powered by a 3.2 litre diesel engine that makes 189bhp of max power@3800rpm along with a 441Nm@2000rpm of high torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via 5-speed automatic gearbox.
