Skoda India has teased all new Superb on its website a while ago and now it is slated to go on sale in India on 23 February 2016. The Third GEN Superb was first showcased in Prague 2015 and months later it was spied on testing on Indian shores. The sedan has been here for quite some time now and its going to receive a much needed update.
In international markets, new Superb is available with five petrol and three diesel engines but in India it will arrive with 1.8 litre petrol which is good for 168bhp and 250Nm of peak torque alongside a 2.0 liter diesel engine that produces max output of 160bhp and 400Nm torque. The petrol is linked to a 7-speed automatic and 6-speed DSG for the oil burner.
Thanks to new MQB platform used on Octavia and Audi A3, the new model is 70 kg lighter and spacious than the previous model. The 2016 Superb is comparatively 28mm longer; 47mm wider and now carry 80mm of more wheelbase than its predecessor. As a result of it, the car benefits about 150mm of more rear legroom and 60mm of shoulder space.
In the expected price range of Rs. 23 lakh to 30 lakh (ex-showroom), it seems to offer luxurious and royal experience with features like three zone automatic climate control, 8 inch mirror link touchscreen infotainment system with Android auto, Apple car play, electrically tilted Panoramic sunroof, Skoda park assist, automatic bi-xenon headlamps with LED DRLs, LTE powered high speed internet access, electronic tyre pressure monitoring system, rear view camera with display and voice assistance etc.
The 2016 superb will receive heated seats, 18 inch alloy wheels, three drive modes, emergency brake function, electrically open tailgate, eight airbags with optional rear airbags, drive chassis control with drive select, heated seats, 10 speakers Canton audio system and premium full leather upholstery.
The Skoda Superb flaunts a very sleek design language downhill bonnet with bulge on the centre while features like all new headlights with unique patterned LED DRLs, neat creases around the sides and LED taillights further makes the car angular and proportionate than ever.
