In the beginning of this year, the Japanese carmaker Mitsubishi has disclosed that company is planning to launch two new SUVs and two small cars for Indian automobile industry. While this report is not getting any update, new news has come by the Mitsubishi that it will launch the automatic version of its famous SUV, Pajero Sport in August. However, the deliveries of this new variant are expected to commence from September.
Price:
While the ongoing SUV is priced at 23.5 lakhs (ex-showroom New Delhi), this new AT model is said to be 1-1.5 lakhs costlier than the ongoing one.
Engine details:
The ongoing Pajero Sport is powered by a 2.5 litre 16V turbocharged DOHC diesel engine which develops max power of 175.5bhp and peak torque of 400Nm and mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. This same engine unit is expected to come with Automatic Pajero Sport as well while a 5-speed transmission in this automatic might marks its presence. Further, like the ongoing version, new AT Pajero Sport will also get 4×4 (four-wheel drive) system as standard.
Space & Dimension:
No changes in its dimension have been reported yet. It will continue to have 4695mm length, 1815mm width and 1840mm height along with minimum ground clearance of 215mm, wheelbase of 2800mm and seating capacity for seven passengers.
Interior & Exteriors:
Apart from the mechanical changes, it might also get some updations in it’s inside cabin and in its exterior as well. While the interior devices might get renovation, it’s also possible that company will introduce few more equipments in this muscular SUV. On the other side, its exterior profile is expected to be refreshed along with modified front grille, redesigned bumpers etc.
Main rivals in India:
Toyota Fortuner 4×4 AT, Santa Fe 4×4 AT and Ford Endeavour 4×4 AT etc.
CarZoom’s take:
Like its rivals, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport also is a good muscular SUV which carries powerful engine and appealing on-road performance along with nice interior equipments and bold outside profile as well. But still, there is a major reason why this powerful car somehow lacks in sales comparatively and that is Mitsubishi’s less dealer network in India. With this AT version, let’s see company will get the SUV’s deserving sales figures or not.
