During the launch of Mercedes GLA 45 AMG, Mr. Eberhard Kern, managing director of Mercedes Benz has announced that the Merc will launch the CLA sedan by the end of 2014 but it seems that its launch has been delayed and it launch in the first quarter of 2015.
Mercedes is planning to kick start the 2015 with many launches and first of them will be CLA sedan to priced between 25-30 lakhs for which dealers will start taking bookings soon for this upcoming product.
CLA sedan will be based on MFA platform and it will be Mercedes third vehicle after A and B class to be based on front wheel drive architecture and it will be positioned below C-class sedan. CLA sedan will lock its horns with Audi’s most affordable sedan A3 which has received awesome response from buyers in India.
CLA sedan will take the design cues from its hatchback cousin like aggressive front fascia, sharp boot lid, 19 inch alloy wheels, diamond garnished front grille with Merc logo, projector headlamps with Daytime running lights, large air ducts. At rear side curvy boot and LED tail lights make rear profile jagged. Overall design elements make CLA sedan like Coupe especially the sloping roofline that will surely catch the eye of an auto enthusiast.
Get into the cabin and you’ll be welcomed by familiar Mercedes interior ambience, high quality premium and supportive seats, advanced 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system with voice control command system, 3D maps and navigation. Other features include bluetooth enabled calling, satin brown finish wood trim dashboard and safety features like attention assist and collision prevention assist.
Under the hood, 2015 CLA sedan is powered to same 2.0L petrol and 2.1L diesel engines, Petrol motor makes 181bhp power and 300Nm torque while 2.1L turbocharged diesel trim produces 135bhp power and 300Nm torque, both the engines are coupled to 7G-DCT automatic transmission and transmitting power to front wheels of the car.
Mercedes will bring CLA as completely build unit (CBU) so CLA petrol model might cost you around 40 lakh (on-road) and diesel trim between 43-45 lakh. But final price is to be revealed at the launch of CLA.
