Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch country’s first mass market Hybrid vehicle of its popular sedan- Ciaz SHVS on September 1st 2015. Launched last year, Ciaz is currently the second bestselling sedan in the country and to take its graph further, the company will introduce it in hybrid technology. It is rumored that company will replace the current diesel variants with CHVS trims which is expected to available in VDI, ZDI and ZDI+.
The Ciaz SHVS (Smart hybrid vehicle by Suzuki) will be paired to a tried and tested 1.3l DDis diesel engine and will get a start/stop button, larger battery and integrator starter generator (ISG). All three along with brake energy recover system generates extra torque and improves fuel efficiency of the car.
In addition, the Ciaz SHVS to come with deceleration waste regeneration system that converts wasted energy to electrical system for storage and helps in improving fuel efficiency.
Expect Ciaz SHVS to return 28-29 KMPL of ARAI certified mileage against 26kmpl of current generation models which will make it the most fuel efficient car of the country. The SHVS technology was first showcased at Geneva motor show 2015 and Ciaz will become only car in C segment to feature with hybrid technology in India.
Apart from hybrid technology, new lineup will get some additional and standard goodies like touchscreen display, standardization of some features like ABS, EBD and dual airbags. The Ciaz SHVS will be priced at a premium of Rs. 25,000-35,000. However, Ciaz SHVs will get benefit provided by government under FAME (Faster adoption and manufacturing of Hybrid and electric vehicles) which is going to help company to reduce the price of SHVS by Rs. 1 lakh.
