2015 is going to bring range of new products from different manufactures especially in compact SUV and SUV segment. Maruti is going to do the same as well and it seems they are not done with their car launching spree yet. Maruti Suzuki will launch its highly anticipated and awaited SX4 S-Cross by the end of January 2015 which has been spied testing many times of Indian roads. After S Cross, Maruti will launch YRA hatchback in mid 2015 followed by XA alpha by the end of 2015.
In 2014 Maruti has launched two new vehicles in different segments first was Ciaz sedan and new Alto K10 with AMT gearbox. Both the cars main USP is their price, design and fuel efficiency. Alto k10 is available with AMT gearbox under 4 lakh segment which is cheapest priced AMT car in the world so as a result of that waiting period of k10 AMT is over 4 months.
Maruti Suzuki first displayed SX4 cross in 2014 auto expo this year with Ciaz sedan concept, so it has been around a year. This is a very important vehicle for the country as Maruti is entering into crossover segment with this product which is based on SX4 sedan platform. S cross is already available in the international markets with AWD system and getting success with no nonsense appeal.
India-mounted S-Cross will have number of changes like twin slate front grille with black cladding that gives it a rougher and SUV-ish look. The S-cross also gets chrome surrounded tail lights, HID projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, ORVM’s with turn indicators, 14 spoke alloy wheels, silver accent on sides and on front-rear bumpers, fog lamps with chrome garnish.
On the interiors, SX4 Cross will get dual tone upholstery with black grey combo with brush metal accents, sport steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment system, premium upholstery and overall neat and clean design.
In the Europe S-Cross is available in a 1.6L petrol engine which produces 120PS power and 156Nm torque, while 1.6L diesel engine gives 120PS power 320Nm of peak torque equipped with AWD and four driving modes. But for India S-cross will be available only with diesel engine which is subdivided into two parts- 1.6L diesel engine gives 120bhp power and paired to six speed manual transmission and tried-tested 1.3L Multijet diesel engine which produces 90bhp power and coupled to a five speed manual gearbox.
In international markets S-Cross is equipped with Suzuki All grip all wheel drive system but to keep cost in check Maruti might not offer it in on India. S-cross when launched with the price of near 8 lakh will lock its horns with Duster, Terrano and Eco Sport etc.
