Maruti Suzuki India’s new automotive dealership range Nexa which was set up to sell premium range of cars has completed first year of its operations. Launched in July last year, the range flagged off its operations with the premium Crossover S-Cross which was soon joined by Baleno hatchback. The Initial target was to open around 100 outlets across the country by FY 2015-16 which was successfully completed by March this year.
Having accomplished that, Maruti Suzuki is now looking to expand NEXA range to 250 by 2017 which in current stands at 150 across 94 cities in India. The brand has announced that it has sold over 1 lakh units via NEXA outlets in India. By the year 2020, Nexa is expected to account 15 percent of the total sales of Maruti Suzuki. Besides S-Cross and Baleno, Ignis will be the next model to be retailed via this network.
Till last month, NEXA has sold around 29,000 units of S-Cross crossover and 71,000 units of the Baleno premium hatchback which adds up to 1 lakh units. These figures might roar up with the launch of Ignis hatch which will be launched early next year.
Celebrating NEXA’s first anniversary, Mr. R S Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales said, “NEXA has been created to address the needs of a new and growing segment of Indian customers. These customers are well travelled, digitally savvy and frequently experience five-star hospitality. They value personal touch and pampering in their purchase and ownership experience. Over half (51 per cent) of the customers who bought cars at NEXA were not customers of Maruti Suzuki at that point, indicating that through NEXA, we are able to attract new categories of customers.”
