Maruti Suzuki has been on cloud 9 as last two products was a blockbuster and it seems Ignis will follow the same footsteps. The Ignis was launched a few days ago in India available via Nexa dealerships at a price range of Rs. 4.59 lakh and Rs. 7.81 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The tall boy hatchback is off to a great start as the bookings crossing 10,000 mark already and one of major reasons is that it remains a niche product compared to its other siblings.
Even before its launch Ignis has been gaining a lot of attention which results in increased waiting period up to 4-5 weeks. After official launch, the demand further increased which further shoot up the waiting period for petrol up to 8 weeks while for the diesel it stood up to 10 to 12 weeks. The Ignis is available in four variants- Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha with AMT available on Zeta and Delta grades.
Measuring 3700mm in length, 1690mm in width, 1595mm in height and 2435mm of wheelbase Ignis has quite roomier rear section with great amount of legroom space. Despite quirky rear design and premium pricing, Ignis offers variety of features and dual tone color options which surely going to attract youngsters.
Maruti Ignis flaunts dominating yet aggressive stance and gets projector LED headlamps with LED DRLs, bold character lines, flared wheel arches and range of customization options. For features, it gets a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple car play and mirror link app, automatic climate control, rear parking camera with sensors, multi function steering wheel, dual tone dashboard and much more.
The Ignis gets familiar range of engines- 1.2l VVT petrol which tuned to deliver 82bhp power and 113Nm of torque while the 1.3l DDis diesel engine generated 74bho power@4000rpm and 190Nm of torque@2000rpm. Both the engines are linked to a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT (AGS) gearbox. The diesel Ignis has an ARAI claimed mileage of 26.80 Kmpl while petrol is good for 20.89 Kmpl.
Ignis was the first launch for Maruti in India with Ciaz facelift, Vitara Brezza petrol, all new Swift and Swift Dzire to follow.
