With the festive season just around the corner, many carmakers will come up with a range of limited or special editions. The King of limited editions Maruti Suzuki has launched a special edition of Celerio. This edition comes with a styling kit including interior and exterior accessories to differentiate it from the standard model. In addition, it can be had across all variants at an extra price of Rs. 12,000. The current Celerio range starts at Rs. 4.03 lakh and goes all way to Rs. 5.23 lakh for the top end petrol variant.
The new edition comes with an array of updates such as body graphics all around, chrome accent on fog lamps, headlamps, outer rear view mirrors, windows, boot lid and tail lights. It also gets rear parking sensors, door moulding and a set of door visors. The interiors have been spiced up with a new tissue box, ambient lighting in foot wells, dual tone seat and steering covers etc.
Besides these changes, Maruti hasn’t made any changes in the mechanical department. It continues to draw power from a 1.0 litre K10B petrol engine that makes 67bhp of max power and 90Nm of torque. The engine is linked to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automated transmission (Auto gear shift). The petrol is good to deliver an ARAI rated mileage of 20.36 Kmpl while the CNG variants can deliver 31.79 Kmpl. The company has recently discontinued Celerio diesel owing to poor sales response.
According to reports, Maruti is also working on 2018 version of Celerio which might be showcased at 2018 Auto Expo. The changes may come in the form of redesigned front fascia, flared wheel arches, contrast roof top, new alloy wheels and chrome touch on the rear. While on the inside, it is expected to get new infotainment system, steering mounted controls, new upholstery, premium materials and dual airbags as standard.
