Mahindra Scorpio gets a new member S4+ variant with safety pack

India’s home grown auto giant Mahindra today added a new variant in its SUV Scorpio’s line up as S4+. The new variant is equipped with more safety and security features like dual front airbags (driver and front passenger), Anti-lock braking system with electronic braking distribution, auto lock while driving, panic braking indication and seatbelt reminder lamp. New Variant S4+ also comes with optional shift on fly four wheel drive system.

New S4+ also features follow me headlamps, power window switches on door panels, a cup holder and bottle holder. Standard S4 variant now losses Shift on fly four wheel drive system according to the Mahindra’s website.

Mahindra launched new Scorpio in September 2014 with various cosmetic and cabin changes which are welcomed by the buyers and gathering fair amount of sale numbers. Mahindra is available in total of six variants – S2, S4, S6, S6+, S8 and S10 variants till today but with the addition of S4+ variant it is now seven variants of Scorpio.

New variant of Scorpio continues to get power from 2.2L 4-cylinder m-hawk diesel engine that produces 120bhp power@4000rpm and 280Nm of peak torque@1800-2800rpm paired to a 5 speed manual gearbox. There is correct information available on S4+ pricing yet but we expect around 50,000 more price than the previous S4 AWD variant.

In 2015 we might an automatic variant of Scorpio which can certainly play as a trump card for this already blockbuster SUV. It seems that Mahindra want to make Scorpio the best SUV in the country with regular and interesting add-ons.

Apart from S4+ variant S6+ variant now gets an additional airbag in the form of front side passenger. 2015 is a very crucial year for Mahindra as the company will launch number products like Scorpio AT, new Bolero, Mahindra S101 and XUV500 facelift.
