Launch of Mercedes Benz AMG C 43: Price, specifications and features

Mercedes closes 2016 with the launch of the ‘AMG C 43’ in India today which is all set to take on Audi S5 coupe. Priced at Rs. 74.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the C43 has been around for more than two decades and mesmerizing buyers with its refined performance and lavish ambience. It is the first saloon to come with 43 nomenclature while third AMG product to have C43 badge. Without further ado let’s find out what new C43 AMG is all about.

Engine Details:

The epitome of elegance AMG C43 packs a 3.0l turbo V6 engine which also power SLC43 AMG and C450 AMG. The engine delivers max output of 367bhp@5500-6000rpm and peak torque of 520Nm between 2000-4200rpm. Owing to a nine speed automatic gearbox accompanied by 4MATIC all wheel drive system, the coupe able to make 100km/hr from standstill 4.7 seconds with an electronically limited speed of 250km/hr.

The Saloon also has dynamic select feature which lets driver to choose among five drive modes- Comfort, sport, sport+, Eco and individual. Its counterpart Audi S5 also houses 3.0l engine with 347PS output and makes 0-100km sprint in 4.7 seconds.

Space and Dimensions:

Mercedes-Benz AMG C43, the blend of luxury and performance is also rich on space and compact. It measures 4702mm in length, 1810mm in width and 1434mm in height. The AMG C43 rides on the wheelbase of 2840mm and offers 112mm of ground clearance.

Exterior and Interior:

The baby AMG has an aggressive and sportier body kit to make it stand part from the standard model. The flamboyant looks flanked by three point star diamond grille with LED headlights with DRLs, larger air intakes, modified front bumper, new 19 inch AMG alloy wheels, revised rear bumper with signature AMG quad exhaust set up and subtle lip spoiler on the boot lid adds to the sporty appeal of the C43 AMG.

Step inside and you’ll be welcomed by familiar cabin and design as it is similar to standard C-class with minor nips and tucks. The overall cabin and dashboard layout is same accompanied by features like 8.4 inch I-Pad like touch infotainment system with Android auto, Apple car play and satellite radio. Other noteworthy features include GARMIN MAP PILOT navigation system with 20CD audio, AMG MID with 5.5 inch screen, black ARTICO man made leather seats and upholstery with lateral and electric support, red seatbelts, dual zone climate control, leather draped multi function steering wheel and panoramic sunroof.

Colors:

The thrilling machine is available in four exterior paintworks– Polar white, brilliant blue, Obsidian black and designo hyacinth red.     

Safety:

The compact luxury sedan is not that compact when it comes to safety as it is loaded with eight airbags including thorax airbag, attention assist, adaptive brakes with anti-lock braking system (ABS), adaptive brake lights, hill start assist and hold function, brake assist with brake servo assistance, priming and brake dying, 3-stage electronic stability program (ESP), Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC, acceleration skid control, seat belt fastened warning, tyre pressure monitoring system, audible warning signal, crash responsive head restraints, closing function for side windows, Pre-safe system with reversible belt tensioners etc.
